Some of you may have heard of this franchise from Japan, Bokujo Monogatari, a business sim of farm operations by some very cute charcater. In Chinese we translate the Japanese title as "Farm Story". A friend of mine wants me to locate a copy for her, believing that there should be a PC release since 2003, but frankly I've never heard of any PC release for it. You guys have any knowledge if any PC installment ever released?

MobyGames says no (http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/harvest-moon-series) and good riddance but you should be able to run an emu for almost everything on that list.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why she's quite insistent so I worry if I miss any good game myself.

No, but I really wish that there were. I tire of having to emulate it.

This generation of Harvest moon has been awful, and it's getting worse by the release too. I used to love Harvest Moon but at every new HM they change their design, back in the day it used to have neutral design but now it's all 5 year old creepy anime characters dating sim.

But yeah, what Squirrel said, you can emulate the gameboy or playstation releases.

I would get a Game boy advance emulator and get Friends of mineral town because thats probably the best one and hasn't been defeated in a harvest moon game since, I kind of wish some other developer would be inspired by Harvest Moon and bring something similar to the PC.

There's Stardew Valley (http://stardewvalley.net/) which seems quite similar to Harvest Moon with perhaps a bit of the Sims thrown in. It's still in development though.

The only version I've ever played was through an emulator.

Is this true? I start fresh on the SNES one about once a year and give up after a couple of weeks, but I've never tried the GBA one.

Rune Factory may also interest you. SciFi Harvest Moon like with dungeon crawls. Up until the latest one it has been subtitled as "A Fantasy Harvest Moon".

I remember playing the GBA and GameCube one and using the GBA connector to unlock the extra area on the GameCube. Have not played one since.

It is true.
Friends of Mineral Town is probably the best HM. Both GBA and PSX versions.

I love these games, but I don't really like how later in the game most of mechanics turns into "grinding" where you're running around doing the hard work trying to get the job done before the night.

If I was a game developer I would totally make a Harvest Moon Game where the social aspects are pretty much a soup opera that you can choose and decide in like Masq which has different options and endings while also if you participate in them you get extras for your farm and stuff.

I was addicted to the GBA version for quite awhile, has a lot of great stuff in it, there's loads to do and explore, people to be friends with which gets you a tonne. Equipment to advance which also open up more of the map, a wife to marry and a kid to have and animals and a farm.

have a look at this

its published by chucklefish - makers of Starbound and publishers of Risk of Rain. Not played it, but might be good going off their other games.

also chucklefishes home page is interesting http://www.chucklefish.org/

Yes some superdeformed nudity and murder could only improve the series.

WAIT. Is it sci-fi or fantasy? Because one is clearly superior to the other.

I thought a couple of the past titles had more sci-fi roots, but looks like all are fantasy with airships and the like.

Seems a Harvest Moon inspired game was Kickstarted back in Dec.
