This is a combined arms operation a joint nationality task force consisting of a 3 squad British infantry platoon with several 4 man specialist fire teams in addition and a US armoured platoon.

The operation will take place in takistan in a couple of weeks or so. I am currently looking for volunteers for the following positions:

3x
FTL, GL, AR, R (Backpack)
FTL, AR, AAR, Marksman
FTL, AT, AAT, JTAC

Engineers, Tank crew and IFV crew plus medics.

More info will arrive later but if you are interested shout in here.

Revive will be used in some form because of the length of the mission.

I'm interested.
I volunteer for an IFV gunner or driver position, but I don't particularly mind which position I am given.

Count me in. Would like to be a driver or support role but happy to be a grunt if needed.

I am also interested.

I would like to be the FTL of one of the Automatic Rifleman Fireteams.

Also if I get the chance, I want to be a BAF service man! xD

AR. The bigger the MG, the better.

I'm down. As a true blooded 'Murican my wish is to be one of the brave IFV crewmen, but I'll take anything I can get my grubby mitts on.

Sounds fun. If I'm around I'll take an FTL.

Sure I'll hop in on this looks like fun. Marksman prefered if it's still available. I can also help with any testing that may be required.

Regards Hawk.

AT or MAT/HAT, as special said - The bigger the better. Also what do you have in mind for JTAC's? will they just run around with a laser designator marking targets for AI (or player?) planes, or do they have arty available, because I would be willing to take that slot also.

I'd be up for some of this.

In descending order of preference:

Marksman
Vehicle crew
Any other non-command role

I'm game.

Preferably marksman, medic or AR.

This is tired hippo.

I am tentatively in depending on when it is. A couple of weeks or so puts it right in the run up to Christmas which is going to be busy with various drink ups.

I would like to be a tank gunner but will be happy to go elsewhere if needed.

Tentatively I am also in, depends on the date. I' d be happy in a non-command role.

Question: are going to use vanilla arma 2 or will we need mods? I'd imagine the command structure for a mission this big would need acre , mumble/teamspeak would be too messy

Bodge
28-11-2012, 05:11 PM
We will be using TSand vanilla combined operations (BAF expansion allows you to have better models but isn't essential), it doesn't need any more layers or complexity than a regular session. It is worth pointing out that just so there are no misunderstandings;

Support roles - there are not many, they will be doing very little and only when asked to by the Task Force. Their tasks will include transporting the squads, providing resupply, providing arty fire missions for the task force and on occasion the odd CAS mission. NOT flying around in an A-10 but taking off, executing a strike called by the infantry then returning to base for retasking.

For this reason you need to be confident landing cleanly at fairly low altitude as well as being familiar with weapon systems. I will have a couple of slots only free, I just want people to understand there is going to be a lot of waiting around for the support team.

I will also be needing volunteers for Alpha, Bravo and Charlie SLs.

Tank crew here!

Well if you don't find people to fly a chopper and wait for an hour, I'm willing to do that.
Other than that, stick me in some rifleman slot (I could do JTAC too).

I'm interested, though i've only just begun playing arma 2 regularly, so if there are any grunt spots left, i'll take one.

Halop
03-12-2012, 01:33 PM
Yeah it would be interesting to know the time, and how serious is it, I mean at the level of FolkARPS or more milsimmy?

If the time is good then I volunteer for Bravo SL, yes that's right, for SL. (god help us)

Bodge
03-12-2012, 10:41 PM
Only serious in the way that we need people not to be completely stupid so we can get things done. So normal ARPS and folk style.

Meh, sign me up for SL or support.

What's with the 'Meh' comrade?! Our SLs must be zealously devoted to the cause!

In all seriousness, I'm up for lead roles, or if they are taken I'll take a JTAC.

I will try to give 2 weeks notice. It is likely to be not long after Christmas at the moment. I have had little time to sort things out of late, but it is not forgotten.

I'm out of town from the 29th-31st of this month, but if it takes place a time other than that weekend, then I'll be either a JTAC / FAC or an SL.

I'd like to fly CAS. I'm pretty decent with jets, never worked with a FAC though. Would be good fun to get coherent instructions on a target for once.

egg651
17-12-2012, 01:35 PM
I'll take mortar, please. IT EXISTS IN MY HEAD OK SHUT UP

Also, CAS. Confident pilot in jets and helos.

Alternatively, in the likely event that I don't get drawn out of the hat for CAS, I'm happy to FTL (I'd rather not SL, though).

Ninja edit: As Ferrard said, New Year's Eve/Day is not a good time for me, as I (and I suspect many others) will be spending it inebriated.

Edit 2: If possible, it'd be nice to organise as many people as possible recording the mission at the same time. I've always wanted to edit something like that together.

Bodge

Just for clarification - There are no dedicated "CAS" slots. The support team will be doing various odds and ends (including cas missions) and not all of them exciting. Likelyhood is infantry will request a strike, someone will get up in the air, hit the target, come back and carry on not doing much.

I just want to make sure the people that get it are not under the impression they will be flying a jet domi style.

EDIT: Oh and i am looking early jan for a slot, it will not be new years.

17-12-2012, 05:32 PM
just a quick heads up - I might not be able to make this now depending on what date it's on, so just put me down as a squaddie so I'm not taking a more involved spot someone else could have

Either way I have more fun running around doing support stuff like driving or flying than I do running around inna-woods-wid-a-gun. Makes me feel useful when people need my help. I usually live longer too.

The support team will be [...] not doing much.
Suits me fine. I have much experience of staring at a map, waiting for a "Explode this pl0x" marker to appear before employing my finely honed 1337 mad map clicking skillz.
