More Hazeron, and baby's first spaceship.
Been carrying on my Carthage campaign in Rome 2. I'm at the point where I've won, it's just the mopping up.
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/...D11B8C57FF454/ advancing on the Daco-thracian confederacy.
The Daco-thracians will not let me have their big rocks.
And throw away their lives in a foolhardy attempt to guard them.
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/...FD63039E15B3F/ Thrace belongs to the mighty republic of Carthage now.
Rarely seen actual gameplay screens of TW Rome 2, nice shots.
P.S. I lied about Last of Us screens apparently... having too much fun with the photo mode :P
I made an awesome gameplay video of the above area with all this epic axe-wielding and headshots but totally messed it up and accidentally cancelled the video... and I can't chapter select back to it.... super fail... :/
Come get some! What happened to my sword?! :S
What's that in the background? Can you cook it?
Mmmm... tastes like chicken!
Thanks :) I'll try and take some shots of some proper fights, but usually by the time I remember to pause the game and scoot about, all the cool things have happened. It's a lot easier to take screenshots as Athens, whose hoplites take about 3 days straight to kill anything.
Attacking a group of three armed people was a bad idea. I didn't even shoot them. RIP, brave character. You survived for a really long time.
Noobs looting airbase? Not on my watch! Didn't hit him though.
Spotted someone, didn't even shoot. Too far away.
Is that a Dyson halo?
I suppose so? Haven't heard them referred to by that name before, it's basically a Larry Niven-style ringworld.
The "Dyson" part I guess refers to the sun being inside the ring instead of the more typical setup with the ring being in a normal orbit. At least that's how they're positioned in the Culture books. :P A Dyson sphere is a construct that completely envelops a star, allowing the use of 100% of it's energy. Similarly, a Dyson swarm has discrete satellites instead of a continous shell. Named after Freeman Dyson, who came up with the idea. Pretty common in sci-fi. And in my dreams.
Yeah, I know about Dyson spheres. I thought the "Dyson swarm" concept was more what he was talking about, rather than the solid structure of a sphere or a ring, haven't heard the term applied to the ringworld idea before.
Culture orbitals are smaller habitats spinning to create artificial gravity, different idea (and probably more realistic, as far as anything is in sci-fi).
Niven explicitly called out the Dyson Sphere as the jumping off point for the Ringworld, the idea being that you'd only need the mass of Jupiter to build a Ringworld, but a Dyson Sphere pretty much requires all the mass of another star system to build.
Ok sorry, I misinterpreted. :)
Some brave carthaginian hoplites fight to take the walls of Nicomedia from the perfidious Bithynians.
Meanwhile, the punic armada begins bombardment. You may fire when ready.
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/...77D073A048FA4/ a breach secured, the host begins its advance, pikes protecting vulnerable yet potent balearic slingers from the predation of the enemy.
This cavalry charge has one significant difference to the one at Helm's deep. It doesn't go so well.
http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...1454B1F63112A/ but, with the walls lost and the Bithynians out of any smarter ideas, they give it another go.
Resistance is futile.
Did they sort out the performance issues with Rome 2 in the end? I got a refund when it came out as it was such a mess and my frame rate kept dipping into single digits. I know they've patched a lot of the bugs out but have they fixed the performance and got SLI working?
I don't know about SLI, but it performs significantly better. I've not got an excellent computer (some i5 processor, 8gb RAM, but nice graphics card on the 770gtx) and I've got everything on and set to max. The framerate drops in 9k troopcount land/water siege battles but mostly it's good.
Good to know, thanks. Might pick it up in the next sale.
It's not fantastic now, but it's better. I get a reasonably steady 40fps with everything maxed. Crossfire doesn't work, at least not well, so I'd imagine SLI is the same.
