Also feel free to ask stuff during the game. Most people are friendly enough to help others out. Even the opposing team ;)
Currently I feel the game lacks modes. The current one is either TDM or "who can sneak faster to the enemy base". Somethin with more variety like capture and defense modes. Which are closer to the campaign missions in previous MW games. Or something like a cooperative "horde" mode. Or just a FFA arena. That kind of stuff. The current mode gets too boring after a while.
Wouldn't say "too boring", but ye it can be repetitive. I agree that more modes are needed, something like escort, king of the hill, capture and hold, queue-with-more-than-1-mecha where you preselect a couple of mechas and respawn in each of them after you die...
Perhaps we'll see some of these implemented, perhaps not.
At the moment i am more concerned with the pre-game interface which is seriously clunky and unwieldy. Heck, to group up with a friend and go to a game both parties have to click through a couple of menus and multiple buttons - It doesn't even make any sense, it's just heavy and stupid.
Also, there's scarcely any info on modules or anything at all in general. Would love to see some better tooltips, stats, some clarity. And again, a more streamlined and lighter interface.
Still, people have to keep in mind that this is still beta, mostly early beta at that. Couple of years back we wouldn't even had the opportunity to play anything at that stage, let alone complain about it not being finished.
In other news - how's that corp, platoon or whatever it's called coming?
Very useful tool to try out mech builds, just downloaded and tested it, it's great!
I go by "Vossler" in game.
Any news on the clan yet? I'm GinBroguesHats in game, or at least I will be when it finishes patching.
Update: This game is amazing, feels like MW2.
Yes, I also think I might like this game quite a lot, so add me, or let me know if there's an rps clan.
Vorrin / Vorrin :)
Well it would seem that no official RPS clan has been created yet, seeing how this thread is active for a few days and no one said anything.
Would you like me to create one? Considering that i won't have the time to run a dedicated site and stuff about it, but i could invite people etc, and maybe if someone wants to take care of communications he could do it?
Also - Names for a possible clan?
Im enjoying this quite a bit myself. I got the 30$ founders pack on the last day it was offered and used a bit of the money to buy a centurion -A, which I am enjoying quite a bit. the cent AL which is one of the current trial mechs is quite good too, though like all energy based mechs its quite the beast if you can give it double heatsinks.
I'll be on the RPS mumble from now on when I play (thers already a mechwarrior section) so say Hi if you want.
WHITERABBITS is I, add me please!!
Always happy to provide long or short range backup. Currently rocking a ferro hunchy with lbx10 instead of ac20, and LRM15 Catapult.
I think I managed to invite everyone who posted, so if you didn't get an invite from SenorPresidente I must have missed your post, sorry!
I'm currently playing with my hunchback and loving it, but I'm thinking of trying out a Dragon with an array of lower caliber ACs.
Hello chaps! I'm Fitzmogwai - look me up!
Antares, think you missed me 'Vorrin' as I didn't get anything (and have been manically playing all day -_- )
< Moraven...started to play here and there. Have a Founder's Cata.
To get elite skills for a type of make, it sounds like you have to own three versions of it and unlock basic on each?
Yep. You can sell them afterwards but you have to "grind" three variants at one point.
I'm Simmura in game and not very good. Still rocking the trial mechs.
bonkers: sell them afterwards means mostly to free up your mechbays isn't it? As it appeared to me that the cbills you get back byy selling a mach are really really bad, compared with the original price...
Yep. The cbills you get back varry from mech to mech but the only ones where do not take loose a large amount are the light ones. But also keep in mind (if they did not change that recently, didn't check) that you can keep the equipment the mech came with.

For one in trial mechs games there is only LRM spam and games either end 0:8 to 1:7 or 0:0 as both teams rush the enemy base and take different paths. Also the warping of light mechs (horrible netcode) makes hitting them with everything except ssrms damn hard (and when you hit it still has to register with the server). Matchmaking is none existent, although the devs promissed this for upcoming patches but from this games patching history I doubt it will work fine.
Then there are other things that upset me like a community with such a high percentage of egomaniac dickheads (in the official boards) which flame down every oppinion that is not their own. Being able to give constructive feedback in these boards is impossible (except you are into masochism) .For one I rarely see any constructive feedback anymore and secondly many of the main feedback contributors from the past seem to have vanished from the boards.
Then there is the trial mech grind, the encouragement of wrong gameplay due to the ingame economics and the totally stupid "mech xp tree" mechanic. Then there are weapons like MGs and flamers being completely useless, etc, etc. I could go on but that's about it for now.
The game has just too many construction sites for such a small team and I highly doubt they will be able to fix them. Especially in time for release.
As much as I love MWO and am happy that so many people enjoy the game, I do not. For a free2play game it does the free2play thing (attaching new players to the game, converting him to a paying customer by "love", not by necessity) very, very, very badly. I think I could have way more fun with it when throwing 50 bucks at it, but this is not the way F2P works and it is not the way it should work.
Mh, I see, I just started the game about 3 days ago, and I got really into it, so I think I don't share your view, and I still find it good.
This said, true , the netcode seems pretty awful, but that is possibly also supported by the fact that, I reckon, the servers are in US and Us only for the moment. Hopefully the devs aren't so dumb that they won't realise this is an issue, and add some soonish (now with it being openbeta, time is more of the essence, I guess).
Also, some american dudes were saying, yesterday, that TODAY there would be a patch starting stage1 of the matchmaking. Which will be bugged ,but is at least a beginning, I think this game really really needs it at the moment.
I probably will agree on most of your points about economics and trial mechs and what have you... but meh, for the moment I'm just really enjoying shooting mechs, fill in a decent matchmaking, and a better netcode, and I'm kind of happy like that, I don't care too much about having 238947238974293xp poitns on my jenner I can't do anything with :)
And community wise, I didn't find it too bad this far, I stayed clear of the forums (I generally don't really like forums very much, it's a constant nerd-overarguing-nerd/willywagging fest) , but in game, though people tend not to play teamplay enough (well but that's standard) it didn't give off a properly hostile feel, such as any moba ie.
Well, let's hope they pull it off well, I got really addicted to the tactic-way everything works in the game, this might be my honeymoon with mechs (after failing to really get in mw2 back in the day :) ).
I've been quite enjoying this (despite being largely terrible) - ChainsawHands in game.
Just started playing around with the trial mechs - enjoying it so far. Teaming up with a few people seems like it'd be a lot more fun than tooling around on my own. jonny1982 in game.
