As others have said, Arma is very different to DayZ. I'd say it is worth the purchase for DayZ alone - the mod creates one hell...

If you have a hunting knife you should be able to look at the animal and MMB menu will give you 'gut animal'. This will leave some raw meat on the animal, grab that.
