Probably because that was what it was originally designed to be. They decided to add more MMO-ey bits after Cryptic got picked up by Perfect World.

The individual games are 66% off, the pack is 50% off. Which seems to be the reverse of what it should actually be.

Tried the beta after watching TB's WTF is. Gotta say we need more of these kind of games in this era of manfaceshoots and mobabobas. Will definitely be watching for eventual release avidly.
