I got rid of Boone just because he would drop most encounters before I could even see them.

I thought Empires in the Undergrowth looked pretty neat:
Neat premise (Ant RTS with a documentary voiceover).

It's weird, my backlog is so long that I haven't played a single game that came out this year.

I'm pretty damn good. Infinity Battlescape is funded. It was 3k to 18k short before the rush, depending on which day you use.

Citizens of Earth is enjoyable and heavily influenced by Earthbound. It is a bit grindy, but that's the name of the genre.

It undermines the business model to let people take back their purchases, but twelve is kinda high. The idea is that you buy games that you may not like sight unseen with risk adjusted prices (that...

I've been playing Citizens of Earth lately. It's good to have a low key RPG clearly inspired by Earthbound. It's bad that it's as grindy as Earthbound without an SNES fast forward button. I think...

It'll get funded easily, there's virtually always a substantial burst of last minute funding, and it has quite a nice daily churn. Even if it averages 3500 a day, for the next nine days, which is...

I actually got it at the full tier. I wanted Abyss Odyssey and thought $3 was a fair price. Then I wanted Black Guards, and thought a further $3 was a fair price. Then I wanted Dragon Commander,...

Sounds a lot like Tails of Phantasia, which was quite fun.
Also, Indivisible sounds perfect for Fig. There's clearly decent demand, and it comes from a company with a track record of not...

It;s already at $98k out of $300k by today.

By the way, Sunless Sea just released the free zubmariner upgrade. I may have to get back in again....

By the way, did kickstarter just put a way for people to pledge after the campaign is over? It certainly looks that way on the Dwarves kickstarter.
Count me in on the voices not being terribly impressed by recent humble bundles. I've had more luck with groupees bundles. Also, while I always beat the average, I never go up to twelve.
Obsidian has been doing this for years. I just learned to wait to buy an Obsidian game. At least they are releasing all the major balance / class changes as a free patch and not DLC in Pillars.

The whole "kickstarter isn't new, I'm bored" tone of the recent discussion was disappointing. Kickstarter is yet another thing that RPS isn't (publicly) keeping track of, and I think it hurts both...

The beginning and starchild stuff of 2001.

Everything by Wes Anderson. Tony Jaa movies. Kubrik movies. Paprika and other Satoshi Kon animes (you really watch it for the jump cuts).

By the way, a game where characters were aware of XP, and crazy murderers went around targeting each other would be pretty fun. Civilization would pretty much only exist because of the XP cap on...

So here are some criticisms of the argument behind this thread in general:
1. How would you fix videogame writing? Complaining is non-constructive, a pointless activity. If there really is a...

I've read plenty thank you. I don't need have the literary version of a dick-waving contest to be comfortable in what I have read. Videogames don't have the same depth yet as the collected body of...

I hope they can come up with gameplay with less tedium. I don't regret backing Sunless Sea, but I can't see myself playing it again even though I haven't uncovered anywhere near most of the...

What's the attraction for project creators to use Fig instead of Kickstarter? Less fees?

You're right, although I wouldn't say the make it yourself argument is entirely worthless, because it's given us people like Truffaut. But really, that was a response to Eight Rooks whole "the sky is...

So your post is full of problems, even dodging the fact that good writing is not defined here. You denigrate commonly told myths, when there's a reason they're told over and over again. Also,...
