I've been keeping an eye on a few games with this and I noticed something interesting
Besiege stormed-up the ratings from launch - getting as high as position 18 (that I noticed) - at which point...

Worth noting that UK Amazon is shit for digital deals and US Amazon likely sells US Origin codes - unlike Steam, it's harder to check a code is international (SteamDB helps with that for Steam)

I chose this example deliberately because the ONLY site on ITaD which sells this game is Origin - sneaky huh ;0
The problem with that - which I'm sort-of trying to illustrate with this thread...

Following-up the thread about UBISoft cancelling Farcry4 keys AND my thread about where to start with Command and Conquer - I've been shopping...
I was recommended "Command and Conquer : The...
Valve's only consideration is the 'bucketting' of games into "Overwhelmingly..." "Very ..." and so on - and that's purely based on total positives/negative reviews (so a day 1 EA review is worth the...
I disagree entirely - reviews are there for people who've played a game to tell other people what THAT GAME is like.
Reviews are not a soapbox for personal gripes against developers, publishers,...
The Review System makes it clear that you must review the game itself - not take-aim at the developer/publisher/genre or anything else So the reviews which are removed are those which - for example...
Swapped dynatable for datatables cos 'sorting works'
Added Rank 24h (at least) ago so you can see 'rising' and 'falling' titles - also added +/- votes for that period too
JSON - making...
"Funny Reviews" aren't totalized yet and I don't read every review so I can't exclude those easily (they also make up a TINY fraction of the total anyway)
Tech stuff: Node - yup - Free tier - yup...
As part of my ever-greater-need to API-ify everything, I've moved the original sheet to a table based on a 'live' database of Steam Review scores
Well - 'live' is no less than 24 hours out-of-date...

What I want to see is the next time there's a concerted card-fraud attack on Amazon or whoever, they go out and break into everyone's house to get the goods back.
Remote disarming for cars and...

You're so intent on being right, you don't even notice when people are agreeing with you ;0
My point is that this must have been a complex operation with lots of accounts/cards etc. - which means...

On a different note - I believe someone earlier in this thread suggested that buying from 'key resellers' was "in some ways worse than piracy" and that's an attitude we need to dispell thoroughly.

I doubt anyone bought 1000s of games with 1 card - no-one would setup a store to permit that - I don't believe Origin lets you select a quantity of '1000s'??
They have to have bought them on lots...
28-01-2015, 04:11 PM
I'm aware that exists - I still find it a bit hard-to-grasp that you could get 1000s of keys in a block which is apparently easy to identify later but wasn't so easy at the time!? :)
28-01-2015, 03:41 PM
Another thought - we're clearly talking a LOT of keys here, 1000s if not 10s of 1000s or more.
You can't tell me there were 10s of 1000s of stolen cards/accounts involved in this surely? That...

They chose EA
That was their first mistake - and they've clearly had a paddy about that.

UBI are dishonest and conceited - they have a 'reputation'! - but what I'm arguing with here is this idea of "authorised" and "unauthorised" resale, "shady" and "non-shady" key stores and a biased...

Actually telling people that they'd had a key removed and WHY would have been a better starting place.
Having the legal right to do it might have helped too.
28-01-2015, 03:14 PM
So EA buys keys from UBI - EA sells them to someone - transpires their payment was bad - how has UBI lost-out at this point?
The fraud happened to EA - they should have paid for the goods they...
28-01-2015, 03:07 PM
That has nothing, whatsoever, to do with the legal definition of 'customer'. How stores source and pay for goods is nothing to do with the end customer.
28-01-2015, 03:06 PM
To my knowledge they've not said that - it's just what people are guessing at - and even if they were, I'm not sure if gives them the right to remove the keys.
They say redress is with the...

Same applies if I bought it from Steam - what's your point?
28-01-2015, 03:02 PM
The rules on stuff like this in the EU are quite complex and often vary country to country - the EU allows restricted distribution for physical goods (Levis jeans is the best example of that going...

I covered this earlier - by locking people into UPlay they are making all owners of UBI games into customers because UPlay is their platform and you can't play without it (anymore than someone buying...
