it does sound like Etrian Odyssey got easier as the series went along. and since the stories aren't connected in anyway, might be best to play them in the wrong order. 4,3,2,1 since 4 is my first...

Etrian Odyssey IV is already out. unless you live somewhere they haven't released it yet. it's a must-buy.
I downloaded the demo for Wizardry on ps3. it's okay, not the best but certainly not...
it is backwards compatible. if it wasn't i might not have gotten it. EO IV is definitely worth it, and if you can't find a box copy, its for sale on the eshop, there's a demo too. its my first EO...
