Working a project/task-oriented job I tend to focus on getting stuff done ASAP and sadly it's been spilling into my gaming time. Trying to unlearn that!

Interesting. I have the book but didnt get to reading it yet; I loved the other ones though. The first one was actually my favorite and all it was a bunch of short stories and Witcher's escapades....

I recently started on Pathologic and just got to the second day (without anyone dying, yay!). What strikes me about the game the most is that it's a total labor of love - you can tell the creators...
Not released yet, but Outland 17 will have lots of squad customization and is a bit like xcom in scifi-meets-revolutionary-war theme.
