I think what he's getting at is that DirectX isn't just D3D. You can't replace DirectX with OpenGL, because that's two completely different things.

They already did that with WinRT in Win8.

I've tried running it in 3D, without glasses, just to get an idea of the performance, and it was laggy as all hell.
