Jesus Christ, S2E1 is like an All The Feels Shotgun unloaded point blank and repeatedly into... whatever organ makes feelings. I just barely made it through in one sitting, and was almost thankful...

Must be Max Payne 1 then.
Oh and Tikey you have me down as guessing the body armour, but it was DarkFenix.

For the first ten levels of Skyrim it seemed like BethSoft had listened to criticisms of Oblivion's insane scaling. Now I'm not sure.
I prefer a bit of unpredictability over the old-fashioned "no...

The bar has been raised.
Is the thing on his right arm the welding tool from Dead Space?

Ok, yes, sure
But here's my working list of the Skyrim monster hierarchy, from most to least fearsome:
Man in fur jammies
Person literally made of fire...

A - Binfinite (Maurish)
B - Blackwell Unbound (DeekyFun)
C - DP (JG Man)
D - Metro (Tikey)
E - Max Payne 2 (Tikey)
The only reason I won't hold out for a more specific Metro is that I don't...

Well said. And since dancing with such ghosts is pretty much the essence of gaming, I'll keep on with this one til I figure I've seen all its moves.
I see just enough of what it could be that I'm...

Well, for me, it's less interesting than STALKER, but more interesting than RF:G, so, the analogy seemed apt. Of course it's less than the sum of its parts, but I'd hope that's assumed, especially...

Long War's version of the Bomb Disposal mission. Hell.
On one hand, the mod accentuates XCOM's most glaring flaw: it's often impossible to properly prepare until you already know what's going to...

Oh, Consortium. You promised so much, and came so close. And for those with enough luck to have avoided the bugs, or the patience to play through them, maybe you even delivered.
I think someone...

Have you tried Long War?
I'm maybe eight or nine missions into my first campaign with it, and already swimming in reasonably experienced troops (though never enough Scouts), without the clear...

That's a survival game, though, isn't it? This looks more reminiscent of Dear Esther / Anna / Montague's Mount.
Anyway, I figure 'tis but a silver to support a game that seems to be experimenting...

Looks interesting, think I'll give it a go... though I'm afraid it's going to end up being another entry in the You Were The Murderer All Along genre.

This is all extremely helpful. Thanks all.
It's dawning on me that my real first question is probably to myself: what kind of game-like project thing inspires me the most? then figure it out from...

Well in my case I won't be making a 3D engine; I want to learn something that's simple to start with (relatively speaking - I'm not completely new to programming) but could still prove useful down...

Can I piggyback on your thread, JimDigritz? I've been pondering similar things lately, with the knowledge that eventually I'll want/need to be programming things myself. Is it throwing a lit match...

Hi - Forgot to post that I'd (seemingly) solved this by running MSCONFIG to look at all the services that were running, and found that AVG was still running a service even though I'd uninstalled it...

Yup, but Resonance was my first real exposure to Wadjet so that was my point of reference going in to Blackwell cold. And now having played 4/5ths of the Blackwell series, completed Resonance, and...
