Interesting, turns out it was a fit of generosity. Day 1 purchasers get lizardmen free, pre-orders who got to choose one of either woodies or lizzies now get both:
For players who pre-ordered...

It's a curious thing from this (UK) side of the pond. Some days (like when you mention state funded national healthcare) the US seems rabidly capitalist, on others, like today, when talking about...
Well, I gave in and bought it. Initial impressions are.... it's a little bit better than the BB1 iterations. Mostly in so far as it does seem to play different races to their strengths a bit better....
(I skimmed the first few pages, not sure if worth necroing an older thread or keeping within the Gaming & Sociability subforum, apologies if this needs nuking/moving)
First reviews are coming in...
First reaction was to take against the idea of being some random ninja, then I realised that answering "random ninja" to the "what is it that you do?" question on Pointless would make you the coolest...
I'm glad, so glad, this thread has kept going so long. I'm sad, so sad, I was so weak as to not stay with Elite.
I *loved* the original Elite. I played it "co-op multiplayer" - ie. my friend, Max,...
This weekend's Steam deals look interesting, with a number of almost-but-not-quite games probably worth a look.
With the recent Act of Aggression WiT perhaps pointing people back to the Wargame...
New logo's a bit swanky innit?
First reaction was eurgghh! change is bad! Rapidly changed to hmmm, it could be a grower.
Crucially it doesn't strike me as a logo designed by a digital...

Depends on the game surely. Last I checked (some years back) EVE was hosted in London. And most of the bigger games will have Euro servers which'll generally be slightly quicker to reach from most of...

(re farming simulator)
I thank you, you may consider this a successful talk down - for now at least. Can't guarantee I won't give it occasional flirty glances at lower price points :)

Ahem. Erm. I find myself, embarrassingly, drawn to Farming Simulator.
Fave games of the last year have been Euro Truck Simulator, Elite Dangerous, Kerbal Space Program, and (of course) Witcher 3....

Grumpy, bad mood, perhaps a little angry at injustice or a perceived slight? A spot of gleeful cathartic violence is called for. Taking it out on the kids would mark you out as some kind of bad...
Turns out I'm a dirty cheating exploiter. Apparently.
News to me. Haven't played since before Christmas.
A bit of forum-fu suggests that anyone who's bought ships/modules from the Founders...
Yeah, with it being a whole tenner cheaper for a boxed copy on Amazon right now does not suggest this is steam sale of the year territory.
I've been rather (naively perhaps) surprised by the...

Yeah, I've been hovering over that one for a while. Kinda almost hoping no-one can talk me down. $5.59 is a helluva price you've got there tho - £7.50 in the land of tea & crumpets, which I'm...

It's the talk me down thread :) Telling him how much fun I'm also having in Elite doing all those other things isn't helping :)

Going to try to stick to the "talk me down" ethos here, ignoring the positives and just focus on why you don't want to buy it now.
If you don't like Euro Truck Simulator you won't like Elite at...
Completely valid point. Corporations are able to use globalisation to source cheap labour and materials from the third world, and run their tax affairs through the Carribbean, yet will lobby hard to...
Thanks Sparks - I'm warming to the t-flight. Sure the X52/pro might be "better" but I'm not getting the impression it's a hundred quid better.
intel i3 530 (2.9ghz, 2 real cores / 4 threads w/hyperthreading), ATI HD7770 (1gb vram DX11/mantle), 4gb ram, Win 7 64bit - will it work? First bit to upgrade?
Ahh that's a far more sensible approach, always a little wary of embargoes so close to release - what are they hiding? Were it for any other franchise, by any other dev, and any other publisher I'd...
Ouch - I take it you're down under?
Something odd(er than usual) seems to be happening with Aus/NZ prices. At £30 in the UK (c. $50 US?) it falls into my "very occasional treat" price bracket.
Anyone else a teensy bit excited?
I don't pre-order games.
Well, I kinda do. Looking back I've pre-ordered three games in the last four years - Civilisation V, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and, now,...
Just wandered over to the RPS forums to ask the same question.
Note that in the steam forum the devs are confirming 26th September release.
2014 was going to be the year of the space sim but I...
Last I looked early access was priced at a rather silly 70 odd quid, now it seems down to a far more reasonable £27 for the weekend.
Further, it strikes me as the sort of game that doesn't suffer...
