Bought it, also bought half a dozen other games off GoG because I'm too lazy to enter a CD in a drive anymore.

This brings my total GoG collection to 23.

Why did Syndicate Wars go unnoticed ? Were system requirements too high at the time ? Bugs ? It looks like a fine game if you liked the original Syndicate.

Magic Carpet 2 is now also on GOG. It's an awesome game. A quite unique, fast-paced shooter with many different spells and tactics to use. Build your castle, upgrade it to fire or lightning tower, attack enemy resource collectors, protect your own. There are many different mechanics and monsters.

I installed this yesterday. Warning: GOG did not solve the issue of in-game speed/mission briefing menu animation speed being somewhat irreconcilable on modern systems. In-game speed is as it should be (and changeable via +/- keys). Mission briefing animations (and some sounds?) are very fast and kind of unpleasant. This is an improvement on an unplayable in-game speed, but not the total package I was hoping for.

Not sure if the port mentioned above addresses this, or if the issue is unsolvable.

Give it a shot. It was altered to run at a consistent speed, seems fine to me and I've played maybe a dozen missions in it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but most GOG games run in Dosbox ? In Dosbox, you can change CPU cycles and frameskip settings (there's always an optimum value for the given machine). So a game running too fast can be adjusted.

I played Magic Carpet 2 about a year ago and it's as good as I remembered it. Which can't be said about all games, for example Archon Ultra which is frustrating.
