I reload all the time as a habit from other FPS games.

Which means I often screw myself badly as heavy, because of the larger magazines and longer reloads.

The pump action is very good for those who habitually tap 'R' because you can interrupt the reload animation.

I use the Pandora and find the reload agonisingly long (even with the extended clip you need to reload after each encounter), maybe I should try a pump action.

So over on SomethingAwful, CupBoy maintains a very interesting spreadsheet of all kinds of useful stats culled from the API:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...put=html&gid=0

Everyone should look over every tab, but relevant to this thread though is the Weapons page. Here's the LMG data, sorted by kills/hour. Copied from BeardMilk's post:

Yup. The best gun in the game is the SVA-88.

Ha! These stats are awesome. The Saron stats are funny (it dominates tank secondaries and primaries in terms of v kills/hour), but it's still dwarfed by the likes of tank mines and C4.

Edit: holy shit ... just saw the HE prowler stats. 34 kills/h on average AFTER the massive nerf. to give this a frame of comparison: the VS zephyr and dual photon pods average 36.5 (which is top end for vehicle based kills). Mag HE is at 24, Van is at 19.5. Lightning is slightly better with 29. So imagine what those numbers looked like before the nerfs ....

How the hell EM1 is #6 in LMGs is beyond me. People really making it look useful :/

And they say VS is up in heavies

Those stats also claim the Manticore is a way better pistol than the Mag-Shot.

Remember that any default weapon will perform poorly, as it's used by EVERYONE.

Theses stats do tell you something about which weapons are good.

But they also tell you something about which weapons good (or at least, score-whoring) people use.

The two can't easily be separated.

Thing is, most of the weapons are good, but for different playstyles. NC who are saying GD-7F is best carbine practically state, they chose wrong faction weapon wise.

Yeah, but people in general don't really understand statistics and will argue that a weapon is better because it's #30 over another weapon which is #45.

The margin of error on this is huge. The SR-7 is about 50% better than the XM98 in this sheet. They are pretty much identical (one has a small reload speed increase, the other a small velocity advantage). Those are both unlockable guns. I don't think these statistics are anywhere near good enough to determine which gun is better than others.

In other news, the new shotguns are going in today. 12 pellets (enough to kill a shielded heavy) and a longer reload.

Yes, and wider CoF. Which seems like a downside, but is actually an advantage. Considering the damage output and the number of pellets, it may be that you won't have to even aim with these. Just point them at the general direction of the enemy. The model in the test server though looks good.

By the way, there are many placeholders for weapons in the test server. They cannot be equipped or have a model, just the weapon description . Lots of SMGs, Carbines, ARs and SMGs down the road. There are at least two carbines which, according to their description, seem to have a x0.75 movement multiplier (looking forward to these - I find moving towards the enemy while ADS-ing a powerful tactic with the Hydra and the SVA-88), and a new AR with even more focus on hipfire (so I guess it will be like the VX6-7 counterpart to the Serpent-like Hydra). I'm actually excited about these. I really enjoy rifle combat, shotguns not so much (although I'm using them - If you can't beat them, join them!). Also a Repeater-like variant of the Beamer, some Lasher variants, and lots more.

Some (maybe most) of the test server weapons and abilities were present back in beta, but not implemented on live, so don't assume they are all coming to retail..

Flamethrowers are though, and those were awesome in beta.

I thought so, because most seem too similar to existing weapons. Nevertheless, I think it is a safe assumption that they will release some of them, just so they keep getting people to buy more things.

played around with the flamethrowers in VR. seems pretty good. possibly the only weapon in all of auraxis that will trigger weaponlock faster than the lasher though.

also, what do you guys think about the planned VS max ability?

I think it could be worse, but at the same time it's a demonstration that SOE don't have a clue what they're doing with VS. TR and NC have well-defined themes that their design reflects, both functionally and visually. VS meanwhile is all over the place.

Honestly, depends on damage buff, if it's double, it would be fine, as long as you're not oneshot by a decimator :/
Dual comets hitting with damage of S1?

The vs ability seems mostly stupid, what maxes need is survivability not damage increases especially not with a increase in damage taken. The NC get a front facing shield with no drawbacks (that I know of yet). Yeah give me that please.

There is a "dodge" ability thats been screencapped from the TR as well, hopefully that is an upgrade we can get instead of sprint which could be really useful.

Higby confirmed on Reddit that the NC MAX can't fire while the shield is up.

Depending on the numbers, it might be great or it might be shit. Either way though, it's got nothing to do with the purported theme of VS (mobility).
