Dominions 3 - New Game 2 (Beginners esp)

Just bought it, and I think there will be more people like me who would fancy a game. To be honest I have no idea how to organise a multiplayer game and stuff, but we will figure something out.

So who is up for a game?

    Map: TBA (suggestions are welcome)
Mods: CBM 1.94 (the latest if I am correct)
    Era: EA

Timing: 1-2 days at start, slowing down to 1-2 turns a week at the later stages.

    -Players-
    Land(7/7):
    Dominicus - Pangaea (S)
    Rotekian -Sauromatia (S)
Heliocentric, mighty lord of thread naming -Nifelheim (S)
    Labbes - Caleum (S)
    Prester John - Abysia (S)
    CKScientist - Helheim (S)
    Eschatos - Vanheim (S)

    Water (2/2):
    Kelron - Atlantis (S)
    Riadsala - ry'leh (S)

    (S) = signed up on the game

    replacements:

We are full for the map at the moment, but with enough interest we go to a bigger map.

Yeah I just bought it too. Jumping straight into multiplayer is the best way to start, right?

I'm up for a game. I'm looking forward to trying something other than T'ien Chi.

Me too, you suck at naming threads.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

"Dominicus sucks at naming" the game of the movie of the book 2013.

You should name the game as the above paragraph in its entirety.

    Or yunno DSaNtGotMotB2013 for short.

As a 4,75 customer, I'd totally be up for a game as well, even though I have no idea what I'm doing.

Thats sorta the point, a 35.00 customer would already have read the wiki guide.

I actually read up on some Dom3 stuff after buying it, but today I played a game against the AI and it destroyed me. I am confident other people will have the same problems though, so go humans!

I think the thread title is great!

LLamaserver is the best way to run a game, does all the work.

I'd suggest you get your players and agree/dictate a turnaround time. Early turns should be really quick so 28 or 52 hour turns should get the game moving. Maps can be found to suit the player numbers, again llamaserver has many. For indication around 12-15 provinces per player seems normal.

Finally i'm not a begginner but am far from competent so if you'd like another player to round out the numbers i'm up for another game!

I have no problem if you want to join Prester John. I have played the game for some time now, so I understand the basics. I concider myself to get to medium knowledge (wich I recon is still a beginner, concidering all the information and strategies :P). So someone who knows more and is able to point out small thigns is always welcome.

I am going to have a look at the Llamaserver and how it works.

I wish to suggest we use CBM for the game.

Also, anyone in favour of a specific time period? Otherwise I would suggest early age (sounds a fun time to me). If all agree we can start pick nations, time periods and all the other details on the game itself.

I'd be up for joining this game too, as long as you're not wanting too fast a turn around.

I updated the first post with some info. Pick your nation, or top 3. I was hoping to get 9 players, enough to make things interesting.

Could I go a water nation? I've never played one before

Also, why all the love for CBM?

I see no problem, we just need to pick a map that has water on it. But I have no experience with them and have no idea if it would be balanced. I would gues they are, but maybe someone who has more experience can explain the effects more.

I would say pick one, have a test game in single player and have a back-up nation pick just in case :P.

Oh, I don't mind which water nation. Just give me a random one I won't be in it to win it: the amount of micro-management grows too quickly for me to have much interest in being hugely competitive. But hopefully i can provide some fun for other players. I think the game works best that way: view it as a story generator, with some interesting decisions to make. Rather than a hugely competitive game

Allright, 2 water nations....this is going to be fun. I had already a hard time finding a map with 1 water nation...but 2.

Do me a favour and help looking for a good balanced map with 2 water start locations. http://www.llamaserver.net/mapModBrowser.cgi

To make sure that there is at least 1 land nation, I'll pick Pangaea, with Marverni as back-up. (and Tir na n'Og as back back up) :P

Not sure how to tell if a map is balanced. Atlantis seem mostly amphibious but I don't mind going land if it's a problem.
