    I think.

The terrain is kind of vague on this map, turning on the neighbours map filter is useful (button on the right).

Victory points appear to be on - I assume that's what the crowns are. Can someone explain how they work?

Victory points work in the way that you need to acuire a certain amount of them (so certain regions) and then you win. Fairly simple, but there is a catch. They are not activated, but like most maps they are just present in the background. So you can, as far as I know, safely ignore the crowns. Although some maps have a slightly increase magic locations spawn rate at those crown locatons. No idea with this map....so time will tell.

A forum thread suggests they sometimes appear in MP even when not activated, they aren't part of the map image. The map also doesn't have any areas with increased site spawns (you can check this in the in-game map editor), wouldn't want someone to waste time focusing on that. So yeah, ignore the crowns.

Funny how you start surrounded by hostile armies but have no idea what's there, I can't confidently charge my mans into an "independent province" but I know an early victory is a massive coup. Blah.

How does the server handle early turn files? Process on schedule or immediately?

I think it processes immediately once it receives all the files.

What you can do though is set tax to 200% and patrol with your starting force.

Never mind, not at PC. I read about the population drain at high tax, hard to parse whether it's worth it

Persistently, no. As a first turn boost, yes. Generally it allows faster access to more expensive commanders. Certain nations get more out of it than others.

To hell with it, decided to 200%l my bastard. In theory the soldiers the tax spike pays for will earn back their cost.

Sent Labbes a pm, so I guess he'll know about the turn being due.

It's a really tough decision whether to build mammoths or eagle kings. I want to have both, but I can't. Finished my turn though, so all is well.

You should get mammoths as they are wooly. Wooliness is underrepresented in strategy gaming.

Interesting start. Especially some of the pretender names and titles.

They destroy indies with their wooliness! So of course I picked mammoths.
It took me a minute to realise that it's a "globe" kind of map, which is interesting in all kinds of ways. I guess it also means everyone is next to the lake with the water guys in it.
