So how many Ubisoft games do YOU own?

I'm honestly not to fussed about Driver:SF and all the malarky about always on DRM, since it's not a game that interests me - I loved the original game, back in the day, and I maintain that it "got" driving in a way that the GTA series has never managed, but my interest waned soon after trying out the sequel, which was terribad.

But with all the Ubisoft hate on the main site (and here too, I assume), I got to thinking - how many Ubisoft games have I actually played? Is there something out there that I would genuinely miss if I boycotted their products? I've never played a Tom Clancy game, or Assassin's Creed, but is there something else in their brand portfolio that I would miss?

So! Courtesy of Wikipedia, here is their entire gameography (allegedly)

    From this list, I've owned:

Beyond Good & Evil (Gamecube, bought it second hand, swapped it for a copy of PC System Shock 2 iirc)
    Far Cry 2 (PC)
    No More Heroes (Wii)
King Kong (PC - got it for a birthday present along with Civ4. Never played it)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (bought this on a budget label, not sure if it counts)

There's a fair whack there that I'm sure I've played, but never owned - including Morrowind, which I played the arse off, but it was my old flatmates and he took the discs with him when he moved.

All in all, Ubisoft can DRM themselves up the arsehole. They don't make or publish many games that interest me. I'll be avoiding Far Cry 3 when it comes it, which is a shame, since I thoroughly enjoyed FC2, but I'm sure I'll survive. But how much of a difference will it make to your game shelves?

    Assassin's Creed
    Beyond Good & Evil
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
    Far Cry
Far Cry 2 (on PC and Xbox 360)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (used to have it)
    Ghost Recon
    Splinter Cell
    Morrowind
XIII (used to have on PC, still have on PS2)

Notably, they're all older games with the exception of Far Cry 2. I don't think Ubisoft have done much recently that I'd miss. Though if Beyond Good & Evil 2 ever gets done...

    Off that list:

    Battle Realms
    Capitalism II
    Conquest: Frontier Wars
Heroes of Might and Magic V
    TES3: Morrowind
    Warlords Battlecry II
    Warlords IV

Only one that's still relevant is HOMM, though I could do with some more Capitalism and Warlords, preferably of the non-Battlecry variety. If HOMM6 is good and doesn't have evil DRM, I'll probably buy it at some point.

Assassin's Creed 1&2 (2 purchased after the UbiDRM mostly removed)
Brothers in Arms (Earned in Blood? Can't remember which I have)
Dark Messiah Of Might and Magic
    IL-2 Sturmovik
POP: Sands of Time, Warrior Within
Tom Clancy: Stuff and More Stuff
Morrowind (didn't even know this was Ubi)
    World in Conflict

That's all I saw after a quick scan, but I've got at least six Tom Clancy titles. Most of those that I've played I've quite enjoyed, though. A lot of their gameography looks totally meh.

How many do I own? More than I can conveniently count, and the list provided is both incomplete and inaccurate. Regardless, Ubi's published quite a few of my favorite games across multiple platforms, their current DRM trends are quite worrying because they translate to the loss of some very solid franchises.

As far as licenses that are still active and producing sequels, the ones that immediately come to mind are HOMM, Silent Hunter, Anno, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and perhaps Splinter Cell. I'm sure it's too much to hope for a revival of "real" Tom Clancy games, but it's nevertheless noteworthy that even if such a thing happened I couldn't play them because Ubi owns those licenses as well.

Of the AAA's, Ubi's one of the more relevant to me personally. If, say, Activision did something like this, I don't think I'd even notice.

    Mine:
    Dark Messiah: Might & Magic.
    Might & Magic I-VI (GOG)
Might & Magic VII (Budget + GOG)
    Might & Magic VIII (Budget)
Heroes of Might & Magic Complete Collector's Edition
Tom Cuhlancey's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Budget)
    Far Cry 2
The Settlers VI - Rise of an Empire (Budget)
The Settlers VII - Paths to a Kingdom
    Anno 1404
    Anno 1404: Venice
    R.U.S.E.
    Beyond Good & Evil

I find Ubisoft a very vexing company, if I'm honest, because their attitude is bizarre. On the German side of things, they're a very supportive company. Anno 2070 has a nicely updated website, for example, but for us in the UK and English speaking world, we have a very basic and information-free site. They're one of the few major publishers that actually puts out a variety of PC-exclusive releases that aren't MMOs or casual-targeted, and I do respect them for that. Blue Byte are an excellent developer, and one I've enjoyed for years, but I wish Ubisoft would utilise them better.

I don't agree with their DRM, but the one game I have with it hasn't been too bad. My bigger gripe is actually with the price of its DLC, and the ugliness of the visuals. It could potentially look good, but I can never get it to look right, so it's constantly blurred for me. Blergh. I'm also not a fan of the level of OMG LOL FACEBOOK integration they've done with it, because I don't give a flying monkey turd about Facebook and I really don't want it shoved in my face every two seconds.

Ubisoft put me, as a customer, in a tricky position. In terms of PC-exclusive releases and strategy games, I find myself torn. They do something very few big publishers do, and they do it well, but they always ruin it some how. It's like they'll give you a cake, but only if they can kneecap you first. In terms of multiplatform non-strategy releases, I think they're a poor publisher and need to get their act together. They way they've treated PC customers in particular is abhorrent. Far Cry 2's DLC is impossible to get without rebuying the game now, and it's clear that they have little care for us by the way they delay games frequently and refuse to give us demos, and then feel obliged to slap on their restrictive DRM for no better reason than shits and giggles.

EA learned that customers don't like to be handled in such a way (Well, partially learned. Mass Effect 2 was a bloody horrific effort on the PC with regards to menus and its content authorisation), and have backed off somewhat from their tight-fisted stance. THQ learned with Dawn of War 2 that you go for GfWL or Steamworks, not both at the same time. Rockstar learned a similar lesson with their Social Club, too. Ubisoft seem to be deaf to most complaints, and I hope it bites them in their smelly French arses, because their attitude towards its PC customers is disgusting at times.

Edit: To those above, Ubisoft were a distributor/publisher for Morrowind in Europe according to Wonkipedia. They didn't publish-publish it.

Wow. I'm stunned. I think I've just discovered the worst publisher for CRPGs. Ubisoft. There aren't any on that entire list (Morrowind wasn't really published by Ubisoft and Anvil of Dawn shouldn't be on the list as it was published by New World Computing).

I own about 10-13, but most of them are older console games from the last gen, and none of them are recent PC games. I wouldn't put up with any always on drm, but fortunately the company hasn't released anything that interested me in about four or five years.

    XIII
    Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3)

    Think that's it.

Edit: Forgot Beyond Good and Evil. Also had all the Splinter Cell games up to Chaos Theory on the Xbox, but sold them.

    Far Cry
    Far Cry 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
    Prince of Persia

    Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield
    Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

It's not the Unreal you're thinking of, because it's 10 years too early.

I own XIII. Ha! Right now, I can't be bothered to go through the whole list, but as far as XIII goes, I loved that game. Not for the non-existent DRM, but for the cell shading and the story (I know, it's a comic adaption).
