I, personally, would be willing to submit a logo design to fit a brief.

1024x PNG with transparency sent to TRay:
Edit: 300dpi as Boris' was still 600dpi
Didn't bother with optipng. GIMP's output @ compression level 1 is far from lossy and the KB size difference between a GIMP PNG output at compression 0 through optipng and a GIMP PNG output at compression 1 is about 28% of a 3.5 inch floppy

Well, oddly, there is no visible difference between both 256 and 800 when uploaded, but 800 is working fine so ill leave that one there so that it will (hopefully) scale better between applications.
Checked it on both avatar size, and the larger featured channel size. If somebody is able to check on apps that would be good. Also, if somebody could check to make sure it displays fine on their computer. http://www.youtube.com/user/RockPlanetShotgun
Here it is at 800x:

Here is an 800x of the Logo:
Maybe just see how that turns out once uploaded as the profile pic?Originally Posted by CROCONOUGHTKEY

If youtube suggests 800 (which, my blind eyes clearly missed given its right next to the bloody upload button) fair enough.
Anyway, I had already done it before you posted this, and posted an 800x image haha. Read up ^.

It's not the neatest of scaling on either website, and they tend to lose the crisp line of the giraffe, but not much can be done there. The largest Twitter outputs is catered for by the 256x I uploaded.
I have no idea whether the 800x YouTube asks for is because that's the largest it displays it as. I assume they suggest that to give them a lot of wiggle room.
That being said, if it is the case that it is the 800x is what is sent to external apps, then it will be best to meet that. Because third party devs will be basing their scaling around recieving 800x images. But that's a guess.
(Side note: If you look at the source image of the profile pics they are 88x for the old YouTube layout and 240x for the new one. YouTube churns out a series of scaled versions of what you upload, rather than scaling on the fly.)Originally Posted by CROCONOUGHTKEY

Fair enough. As long as we have a bunch of set sizes for differing sites, we are covered for all outcomes.
Cooper, did you see my note about the text in the current website logo? The "rock" is offset to the left one space too much. Minor thing, but thought id point it out anyway.

Output thus far:
Note: The "planet texture" layer has a single-pixel width black line to the left of the image, which remains when deselecting the black layer to return a transparent background.
All the output below has been made by an equal crop of 100px from all sides of the original

Edit: Avoid hotlinking... Feel free to upload to your chosen image host. I will create a imgur album too.

@Paul & Sino
Yeah, I knew that when I made it. The text alignment I ignored for now, Sino's output is what I intended. More importantly I need to decide whether to keep it plain white or do something to it.
- A forum signature?
Would anyone want this?
- Any other places where we need a logo that needs special versions?
- Smaller (80x, 50x?) versions, or can people resize as they need?
- Font & Titles.
I'll do this when I return to sort out the website header.
- Extended Palette
I'd rather not bother and elave people to spin off from the logo as they wish. The colour palette is there for quick access to html colour references.

-Possibly youtube one layout header? Either similar to the site, or using elements from the YT background
-Could produce a super sexy desktop wallpaper for funsies :P
-Colour palette (including both included colours so far, and other possibly complimentary colours for others to use)
-I suppose there is potential for accounts on places like Reddit and Facebook, though if those happen, they could be made then.
If smaller versions are needed, It would be good for them to state that need so that we can have one version. Though its not a huge deal, there is a chance that this could promote several ever so slightly different versions of variable qualities.
Either way, doesnt matter much.

@Paul re: Palette
If you wanna update what's there, please do.
By "I'd rather not" I simply meant that I don't see the need to mandate specific colours beyond the basic ones. The black & planetary cyan should probably be added though.
I may revisit / draw on the palette again when I'm working on the website. If you wanna suggest complimentary colours, please do.Originally Posted by CROCONOUGHTKEY
