[VS] Giraffe squad leaders - what to call them

This isn't a thread about imaginative ways to congratulate or insult the brave soles who lead. Instead it's a place to gather suggestions for the name of the rank that will replace 'giraffe beacon' - that's what we agreed to do at the meeting right?

Some suggestions (those that I can remember from Wednesday plus a few):

    Giraffe sergeant
    Giraffe first class
    Tower leader
    Senior Giraffe
    Giraffe herder
    Long legged mack daddy (http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...ged+mack+daddy)
    Responsible giraffe
    Shouty giraffe
    WallyTrooper = TrooperWally

    Wally is now on Steam!

If it doesn't matter how obvious its meaning is, some of the translations of Giraffe might be options.

    Swahili: Twiga
    Afrikaans: Kameelperd
    Kikuyu: Nduida

Though my personal favourite has to be Masai - Oloodo-kirrangata. Though it is probably a bit unwieldy for this purpose. If we want the rank to be understood, then just calling it Squad Leader is probably the best option.

    My vote is Twiga.

    Bah. Details, details.

More suggestions (parentheses around less good ones):

    Executive Giraffe
    Giraffe Exec
    (Foregiraffe)
    Girofficer
    Executive Girofficer
    (Principal Giraffe)
    Longneck Bigwig
    Deputy Giraffe

I was pretty pleased with that one! Or maybe Girafficer, I'm not sure which one is best.

Either way, www.thesaurus.com is your friend. Find a word that reeks of leadership or something and go crazy on synonyms.

Don't we sometimes use Beacon Monkey for Squad Leaders, especially in a Casual setup?

I think the idea was to move away from the beacon thing, and more towards emphasising (squad) leadership, right?

I was going to suggest Beacon Monkey then realised they haven't put the monkey camo in yet.

Indeed it is! We could have:

    Giraffe chieftain
    Chief
    Director giraffe
Giraffe mistress (how mistress is synomous with leader I don't know. Perhaps reveals something about the preferences of the person that made thesaurus.com?)
    Superior giraffe
    Giraffe harbinger
    Big giraffe
    Head giraffe honcho
    Long legged luminary
    Principal giraffe
    Giraffe monitor
    WallyTrooper = TrooperWally

    Wally is now on Steam!

Pardon me for sounding slightly confused, but what rank is Giraffe Beacon anyway? I know I'm a Ballon Leader in the outfit, although I don't actually know what that means or where that puts me in the general consensus.

(I wasn't at the meeting, so don't hurt me)

Still reckon Giraffe Sergeant is the most accurately descriptive, plus has some good old army flavour which is nice.

Up until now Giraffe Beacon = can squad lead, Balloon Leader = proven platoon leader.

Also, don't suppose anyone was taking notes at the meeting? I had to drop out before the end, so no idea what (if any) conclusions were reached.

Actually our current beacon giraffe rank has no relation to leadership. The two requirements is having a beacon and be a SL during casual play i.e beacon monkey.
I wasn't at the meeting so i don't know why you want to change the name. If it's because it's undescriptive, then beacon monkey is the perfect one. If it to emphasise SLing ability, then we need a new rank, and find a name for it.

Dead guy looking at the map?
Hear from the spirit-world this mystery:
    Creation is summed up, O man, in thee;
Angel and demon, man and beast art thou,
Yea, thou art all thou dost appear to be!

Nah, that would be the new name for Baloon Leader.
