    Neptune's Pride 2 (Triton)

Seeing as how no-one seems to read the IronHelmet forum on here at all, I hope it's ok to post here.

    I've created a RPS locked game;
    http://triton.ironhelmet.com/game/1353163
    Password is "jimjim".
I'm more than happy to set up more (or try turn based/speed games) at peoples request.

The IronHelmet forum is here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/foru...ptune-s-Pride)

It's much slower than the first game, far more strategic/chess like. No matter how much research, fleet travel is incredibly slow - and you realistically don't need to log on more than twice-thrice daily.

Also in. Best of luck ladies and gentlemen.

Edit - Any general tips? How should I be upgrading my stars?

I'm in! Which apparently means we have started.

I never played the first game, so I guess I'm in for a rough ride :)

Each level of Economy generates you $10 per tick (a tick is every 24 hours, and there's a countdown on top of the page).
Each level of Industry generates something like 0.25 ships per hour (modified by Manufacturing research)
Each level of Science generates 1 research point per hour.

As such, spend on Industry/Science when you feel like it, but you should save spending on Economy until just before the tick if you're likely to colonise planets that would be significantly cheaper to build Economy on - if that makes sense.

Also, don't be afraid to create lots of small fleets - early game is essentially a land grab.

Picture of the state of play:

To give people an idea of the time scales involved, for me to reach the nearest green planet (as yellow) takes almost 2 days. No matter how much I research, that will remain 2 days.

Much better than the original, where speed research meant later games required you to check in every hour or two.

Okay I fell off the wagon. If there's another RPS game going I'm in. Also eager to try a turn based one.

I'll set up a turn based game after this one has had a while to develop

I so wish I'd seen this yesterday... Just got roped into a game of NP1 and I'd have much loved to have been in this instead. I will definitely look to join future RPS games of this.

Just joined a game with randoms to see what the new version is like - but well up for playing against, sorry with, fellow RPSers.

If I want my ships to defend a star, do I need to disband the fleet? Or will ships that are orbiting my star help in defending?

Every ship on a star fights as one group, regardless of whether they're orbiting in a fleet or on the planet itself.

What do you guys think of being able to choose starting positions? I always thought it would be a great feature, now I have it I realise I was wrong. Is randomised starting positions an option on custom games?
