You got my vote. Friend of Chuck Norris! (Is it really voting or is it just name dropping fun?)

I also think that anthile seems like a fine candidate.

I'd support a lot of the nominations so far (which includes accepting my nomination, thanks Sketch). I think all of my picks have been seconded and/or thirded which means I don't have to make hard decisions (shhh, that's totally how voting works). Anthile seems to be getting a lot of love which seems sensible to me, and I didn't catch any names I recognized as untrustworthy or overly hot-headed that were bumped a bunch. Making hard decisions anyway: if I had to pick three folks I think Sketch, Quantacat and JG Man would do a respectable job.

Nalano has a fair point about active posters, who make up the bulk of the nominations. At the same time, choosing inactive posters could cause just as many problems. An absent mod is a poor mod. Continuing to be only marginally helpful by playing both sides: a mod everyone's seen around has the advantage of familiarity and hopefully trust while a mod nobody really sees around has the advantage of distant authority--choosing a more hands-off community member might make it easier for people to respect the Moderator first and think about their relationship with forum member X second.

Mostly I just like the idea of community moderation happening.

    This.

I propose Wizardry (someone had to do it).

Moderation a forum is like an RPG right?

I propose Berzee, alms and Anthile. By that order.
EDIT: And Heliocentric, if he has the time.

If we nominate Wizardry, does he gain XP?

I can see some merit in a moderator who isn't a very active poster, as it may be easier for them to look over a troublesome situation with a slightly more objective eye. But I can't see it working if they're all absentees.

I don't really spend enough time here to nominate anyone, as I'd basically be naming the people whose picture I can remember being next to something particularly funny or clever, and that probably wouldn't be a good system.

I don't know if I'd be very good at moderating, as I don't spend much time here, open threads very selectively, and I'm probably too opinionated. Thanks though.

    I'll vote for Berzee.
I also give myself a negative vote.

You're all just voting for Berzee because he has a gentlemanly avatar aren't you!

Err . . . I'd back up those votes and also reckon Anthile and JG Man would do a good job.

I am of course prepared for them all to go mad with power, I was a teenage mod once (the forum kind not the British sub-culture!) and I know I took to the judicious editing of posts for comedic purposes!

I'd nominate Alms. His management of the ongoing bundle thread proves both that he can handle that sort of thing and that he's around enough to bother.

    Wouldn't mind Berzee either.

    Turn-based?

Actually, come to think of it, it kind of is.

I'd vote for Berzee, alms or Helio. I've always seen their posts as calmed and respectful. Also, alms seems really good at time management, as they've already said (great bundle thread).

I probably would accept too much nonsense and rile the more revolutionary elements of the forum, I don't get stressed out that easily. I'd be more of a velvet glove dictator. But I thank for the nom.

    Yes, generally speaking.

You can always go the auction house and just buy your own forum with real world money.

I vote for Anthile, a peaceful mind is what we need.

(ps: as a lurker, I don't know if we vote, or just look intensively at the voting booth)

While I'm flattered that some of you would put my name forward, I don't want to be a moderator. I'm happy just arguing with everyone. Also Nalano would probably explode and we can't have that.

    Thus I cast my vote:

Soldant's Law - A person will happily suspend their moral values if they can express moral outrage by doing so.
