He was sent a PNG.
Working the decal into an SVG that included the planet texture would have been a fair bit of work. Remove the planet texture and it's easy though, so I may put one out without it later.
I don't see how it would work against us. None of the other submissions were SVG and the request was specifically for JPG or PNG when TRay was asked about format.Originally Posted by CROCONOUGHTKEY

oh they requested it, good. Its just so much easier making a decal out of a vector than out of pixel stuff, thats why I thought theyd prefer it.

Well if they announce any further plans, we are in a good position to be able to get something together fast now.
If it is about primatives to be added in, all we need is the vanu logo, circles, a giraffe and some diamonds, and we could make something in game that resembles our logo fairly easily. Would be a shame if they didnt have some form of uploadable decal thing though.

Well there you have it... For those of you who haven't seen them yet, the first examples of Outfit logos on PS2 characters.

Yeah looks nice. Why only TR outfits though? TR gets enough publicity as it is...
Also: how does this work with the shoulder pads of composite armours etc?

I know, it's quite annoying isnt it... Especially because he's Vanu. It's likely just that though, the higher publicity.
Short answer is that it doesn't. Judging by these pictures theyre initially using the same decal/armor layer that currently exists. I really hope they change that! My composite isnt getting removed any time soon!

Most likely because TR LA (I think that's an LA) is the only model on which they've set up showing these decals so far.
Have to say they look really nice and sharp - shame about the composite issues.
I'd like to see some vehicle shots - I really hope outfit decals are more well, apparent than the current barely-noticeable decals you can run on vehicles.

Really impressed by how well they seem to translate. Surely the resolution will not be so high in-game tho? They seem unbelievably crisp at the moment.

Yeah, the resolution of those decals are absurd.
Then again, the new "ultra" textures are pretty damned nice. They may be upping texture resolutions all round...Originally Posted by CROCONOUGHTKEY

The engine is amazing, and I believe they have not really started pushing the envelope with what they're able to do with graphics.
As for ultra, I've been using ultra textures for at least three months now, but the GU9 ones look somehow even better. I think Cooper has a point there

Adding these would just be a case of shoving the decal images into a directory to be used in the same way once they have been processed in any which way they want to compress or texture them.
The time its taking probably isnt because they are doing anything fancy, its just because they need to go through a bunch of peoples decal designs and do whatever they are doing to get them game ready. Given that this is a side project, its probably not top priority for them either.
Dont worry though, I assume they will be able to go over your composite armour just like ranks.

Plus, they probably want to make sure there isn't an outfit rolling around with porn on their shoulders.

I'm going to be disappointed if they don't use the RPS logo in their Vanu tweet.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Sure, we're a pretty big outfit as these things go, but our logo doesn't have the kind of detail, nor the name of the outfit anywhere in it, so I'm not sure if it fits their vision, or whatever.

Oo is that NC logo on top of composite or is that what normal NC shoulders look like?

Who knows, man. Who knows...

I'm pretty sure that's a normal NC shoulder.
Also, I want to see outfit logos on vehicles. I hope they are BIG.
