    Cool Rezzed 2013 Organisation Thread

This year's Rezzed (PC & Indie Games Show) will be happening in Birmingham on 22nd-23rd June. I'd very much like to go. If any other Giraffes are planning to go, it'd be cool to meet them, hang out, go for a drink after.

If anyone else is planning to attend, feel free to organise here, share local information or good (cheap) places to stay at near the NEC.

    Details here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...o-rezzed-2013/

    *EDIT*

Here's the attendance list so far for Rezzed. Let me know if you want to be added to the list:

its in birmingham, there are hotels right next to it. (or is it even inside a huge hotel?)

Either way, Im likely to come, but not sure yet.

There was a chat about this on Mumble a few days ago.

I was planning on going, but it's 5 days before my PhD viva examination. I'll have to think about it.

No, it's in the NEC (National Exhibition Centre), which is basically a collection of many large steel sheds, used for holding trade shows and the like (also dog shows). There are plenty of hotels on site for such a big events space, especially as it's right by the airport. If you wanted to stay in Birmingham itself, I'm sure that would work fairly well too (trains from Birmingham New Street to Birmingham International seem to be pretty constant)

I would really have liked to go, but I paid for another holiday about 2 weeks before the announcement on the same weekend.

Its just as easy to get to from Coventry than Birmingham and hotels will be cheaper! Just for those wondering!

I'm sure you'll be welcome to hang with the Vanu guys! Anyway, it's exactly on my birthday, the 22nd, interestingly. I don't think I'll be able to make it though I'm sorely tempted.

Anyone booked a hotel yet or can recommend somewhere nearby to stay?

I'm thinking about whether to go or not. Very tempted, but I'll need to see how the money goes since I've just moved home. Will probs just be for the day though as I doubt I'll be able to afford to stay.

This site is good for finding nearby accommodation (already searched for Rezzed weekend, 1 guest, nearest hotel): http://myvisit.thenec.co.uk/accommod...de=5,4,3,2,1,0

A single room for £60 isn't too bad. I suspect you can find cheaper places a bit further out.

Think its the Ramada I booked at. Now I'm trying to work out if its cheaper to get a train or rent a motor for the trip. These days it can be hard to tell!

I'm considering the Ramada as it's pretty close to both the train station and the NEC. A London Euston - Birmingham International Return (First Class) for the entire weekend is £47. It's about £20 for a standard class return.

I really should just start booking stuff and rolling with it.

For what it's worth, if I do go I'll be commuting from Leicester each day and might have room for someone to crash round mine if they're hard of cash. I live with a Giraffe, too.

I will probably go for something in town. Because I'm pretty sure there is nothing to do of an evening anywhere near the NEC, and what's the point of going somewhere if not to go out dancing and drinking?

    or this?

Either way, Id have to book a flight that costs about 220€ since driving there would cost me 300€ in fuel costs.

For cheap options, see if there is a Travelodge doing their cheapo family room deal nearby.

Also, consider asking in the main rezzed thread what others people are planning.
