So I had booked in tomorrow for the LA thing but I'm not sure if I can make it now and I've not even played the game in weeks so I dunno how good my advice would be anymore.

How much interest was there in this thing and are there enough experienced LAs to carry this without my direct input?

I often play LA though don't really have a lot of insight into the class beyond the basics (use height, get close, etc.) so wouldn't feel able to lead a TTT session on it. For the same reasons I was keen to attend (and chip in where I usefully can).

I'm very interested, but i almost never played LA before (that something I'm working on improving) so i can't teach anyone.

Me, too... But I won't be able to attend tomorrow anyway, so I don't mind if the session runs a week later

I'm mostly with Qw33r on this one. Would very much like to try it (even ran a TacGir squad with all LAs in a bio lab the other day), but don't know all that much of LA tactics except for hit-and-run and hiding C4 in tricky places, trixing MAXes out of their hidey-holes. Tuesdays are genrally not-good for me, though. (I really don't like how TTT is on Tuesdays for this reason)

Would be nice to get someone that has tried out the new drifters involved too, have a play around with them in VR.

Ok apricotsoup didn't show up today, so for now the LA thing is suspended, until someone (apricot or someone else) offers to make it happen.

Also, we have no TTT session scheduled for next Tuesday. I will be on holidays, away from the computer, so I won't be holding one. If anyone wanna suggest a topic, go ahead !

Eso > I'm sorry for the Tuesdays thing. However, what is the solution to that problem ? Most weekdays are already scheduled for others events, and no matter which day we choose some people won't make it. If you have a suggestion/solution, I will gladly hear it.

The thing is, I don't really have a silver bullet for this situation. Except maybe for arranging something myself, at a time that suits me, I guess.

It is tuesday! Do we have any proposals for Stuff to Do?

    If not I propose

    1) mess with mumble to try out http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/foru...ith-the-comms!

    2) I have some LA experience and while I'm not going to try and lead a session (that is, I am not good enough that everyone should sit around and listen to me) an LA roundtable where everyone chips in and we try to figure out useful ways of doing things / practise them might be cool. Suggested tactics include coordinated flash / smoke grenades after entering a hostile-controlled area from multiple angles (roof / windows / both sets of stairs, think biolab capture points).

    3) Also harasser squads are super effective and we have been doing more of them recently, but successful harassing takes practise and there are some hard lessons that must be learned; would love to devote some time to passing the knowledge along and increasing our overall capability here. No nerfs in the pipeline I think so we should get good at it!

All of your suggestions seem fitting for a TTT, Socroft! I would happily join tonight.

The roundtable format is exactly what TTT is about, in my opinion. We get together, discuss and practice. Lacking a "leader" should not be a problem.

Yeah, indeed, what LaKroy said. Harasser tactics sounds like a v good idea, we would prob get more use out of harasser teams than the more specialised LA stormtroopers.

Ive been driving my Saron Harasser a lot lately, especially when we find ourselves in an open field battle (like last night). I would love to have your input on how to increase my effectiveness in that regard.

Everything else sounds great. Ill be on from about 8.30 tonight.

I'll be on from about 6pm BST tonight so if Eso and/or Cmaster about we can work on getting my mumble comms idea working ready for 7-8pm. I would also encourage use of a FOB tonight to see how this works with a bigger platoon than we had last night.

I'm happy to lead as well once we have this stuff sorted.

This looks unlikely though. I'll be available at most any time tomorrow, more about that in the relevant thread.

Enjoyed last nights 'Fun with the Harasser' evening. Props to Hara and Jag for the vehicular mayhem.

What I took away from it:
-Need to apply more certs into composite armour. At the moment i have CA2 but one rocket took my harasser's health nearly down to zero so something is a bit fishy there.
-Work on my awareness of bumps in the landscape. Its so easy to tip the bloody thing.
-Definitely worth travelling in coordinated groups.

I had the Radar equipped on mine. Was it worth it? or would it be better equipping something like turbo?

Can we get a detailed report on what you did/talked about? It will be useful for all in the outfit (I wish i could have been with you)

I hear that the difference between comp 2 and comp 4 is something like 2 rockets to kill -> 3 rockets leaves you not quite burning; so it's worth certing up!

I really really love the turbo; it's good for accelerating to max speed from a stop quickly (vital) and boosting over ramps / ridges to reach good areas / bypass shields (vital). Lockons seem to be less of a problem so smoke is less vital; the radar is cool and all but blips are only seen by people in the harasser and the range isn't too good.

Re: performance, racer is for gofast but you will flip more often; I like scrapper for better control. Turbo is your hill-climbing button so you shouldn't need surger.

I hope people had fun last night; I am sorry we did not quite face ideal fights (first too few enemies, then too many enemies) but I hope people got a feel for what harassers can do and had some practise at using them.

To sum up the advice I gave before the session start:

    Keep moving; never not move.
Skirt the edge of the fight, never dive into it. Driving in laps around the facility / biolab legs / enemy armour column is a good way to do it.
Good communication between the driver and gunner is vital; the driver must call targets and explain where he/she is going to drive - are you going away from the enemy so the gunner can start repairing? Are you going around this rock to get behind that prowler, which will be on our right hand side?
Likewise, the gunner must call out targets, keep an eye on ammo reserves and MUST let the driver know when he/she is swapping to repair. If you are in sight of hostiles but are reloading, also let the driver know so that you don't expose yourselves to the enemy unnecessarily.
Repairing: it takes practise to hit the sweep spot around either wheel to repair, get used to it. There's no reason to be stationary while repairing, do it while moving to another firing position. Be very careful repairing while driving away from the enemy, you can and will be killed out of the back by small arms fire and if missiles are chasing you they will insta-kill the gunner if he/she is in the back.

Not all fights are good fights for harassers: small enclosed facilities suck, towers with the cap point inside the tower and no outlying buildings suck, biolab attacks suck, biolab defences actually are sort of great as you can buzz around the legs and kill hostile sundies, tech labs and amp stations are either great or bad depending on whether you can bypass the shields. Too few enemies and there won't be enough to shoot, too many and you will die when 10+ heavies all open up on you.

Weaponry: Personally I feel the saron is never not useful; it will kill 1/2 guys per mag if you are careful and you don't want to sit in view of more than that for too long anyway. The ppa is great but only pull one if you are sure there will be no armor / sundies to deal with. Zoom is core on the saron; I swear by thermal on the ppa but I know there are people that disagree with me :P

Re: halberd; yes, it's great, but most of us use the saron and given that you never know who your gunner will be, I submit it might be better to standardise on the saron so that any person will instantly be familiar with the weapon they are using.
