    @Giaddon

    Those settings sound great to me. Looking forward to this!

    @Lukasz

    If there's enough interest I'd be happy to write down what's going on from my perspective at least. It would be cool if we could create something from everyone's point of view (I'm thinking back on the excellent RPS Solium Infernum pieces), but that might not be a project the other players would be interested in.

    it would be cool... everyone after 10 turns writes a short summary (with narrative if he can) of what happened to his faction

    Almost definitely.

    EDIT: re: AAR.

    I'll probably jot down notes every turn, actually - since it's only once a week.

    As in, your computer won't run SMAC? What OS are you using? And maybe it's worth having a look on gog.com for advice?

    AAR

    I'll be writing my side of the story up. But is a turn 10 delay not too small? If I, god forbid, build up an army and start planning for war, i'd want those plans kept secret until everything was in position. Not that I'm likely to do such a thing. That's more Yang's style. Can't trust him. Keep a bead eye on him.

    @riadsala / AAR-interested people

    I think that our AAR should be an after-action report, and not a game diary. Unless we really want the risk of potentially having our plans read by other players (and what's the fun of writing it down if not to talk about our rotten plans?).

    I think we should all write it up as we go, and then all post it together when we're done.

    What does AAR stand for?
    I don't mind doing it, but it'll be my first time.
    Posting it all at once, kinda defeats the purpose imo. I assume it's meant to be something for the non-players to read, and get something out of the game as well?
    If there's something you want kept secret, just don't write about it. It can be explained later with flashbacks or in-world notes and such.

    @Giaddon
    No objections to average settings.

    AAR stands for after-action report. It's fairly traditional to post about PBEM games after the game is over so as to avoid spilling your plans.

    It's not just that I don't trust you guys; it's also that I don't trust myself.

    If people want to write up stuff during the game, that's fine of course. But I'll probably keep anything I write pretty close to the chest until the game is finished.

    Obviously you wouldn't publish what has been happening until after the game's done with, right?

  12. #32
    I think that's what we're discussing. I'm for writing up the AAR as we play and publishing it afterwards, but there is an appeal to publishing it as a series while it's ongoing.

    Oh I see. I just misunderstood what you were really talking about; I've been reading too many LP's lately :P
    Either way is fine by me.

    Oh yeah, I forgot to check the forums. PM sent.

    And I haven't played in years either, though I played a couple of turns after reinstalling, just to get a little familiar with it again.

    I played through a game two weeks ago, but other than that I haven't played it since it was new. So I plan on being massacred quite easily!
