    Mod Tyrrany!

We have seen, days after the discussion of whether mods are a good idea, the first instances of mod tyranny!

First a "reminder" of the rules. Then they closed the bestest thread ever. Couldn't we get like and rdt or a spiller or something for fun threads? Its not like the thread actually caused any drama.

And ant, come on man, everyone knows your first couple weeks as a mod you gotta lay low.

Bestest thread ever? Not sure which thread you are discussing. Not a very useful statement.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

No, we need to do this bay of pigs style. Get them to invade and then publicly interrogate them.

Looking over that thread, I don't think that anything of value was lost by closing it.

Aside from crepes. Did I mention I love crepes?

But on a serious note, what was gained by closing it? There was nothing out of hand. No flame wars or anything.

At most a quick kick over to the Other Stuff forum was an acceptable response. It barely takes any more work and it neatly solves the problem of lack of relevance to pc gaming.

    Tyranny I tell you! Tyranny!

Crepes are only overrated Pancakes. I could understand your outrage when we were talking about waffles. But Crepes?

Yeah the wargames thread was the perfect example of the community moderating itself. A few people were being dicks to each other, but everyone else was laughing at them and discussing desserts.

Pretty much this. What little drama there was was self-contained. The question shouldn't be "what was lost by closing it," but "what was gained by closing it?" If it was off-topic, move it to Other Stuff.

    Also, it's "tyranny," not "tyrrany."

I love crepes. Some of my best friends are crepes. The crepes weren't the problem and neither was the banter. It was solely about the guerilla warfare aspect. I consider myself an upstanding, crepes-loving citizen and I can promise I will not lock down threads just because they contain off-topic banter. The timing may have been unfortunate but I still think it was for the better. Peace through tyranny.
