A discovery I've made about the comments section

RPS is my favorite site because of the comments section: always cheery, informative, and willing to discuss topics in a level headed manner. The forums are pretty much this, except multiplied several times.

What I discovered, though, was that the deeper you descended into the dank pits of the comments section, the more it degenerated into a generic gaming comments section, descending farther and farther into the realms of illogical reasoning and meaningless insults.

Anyway, we may as well try to maintain this jolly facade. What do you all think of how RPS differs from other gaming sites? Do you enjoy it as much as I?

RPS is my primary source of words about games. All the writers seem genuinely passionate about the medium and have interesting opinions to share, even if I do find myself at odds with them on occasion.

I read the pun thread in the comments, then move on.

It makes me so sad when there isn't a pun thread in the comments.

I think it's the kind of games they report on. Rarely do you see articles about the kinds of game which bring the worst out in people.

It depresses me to no end when the first 10 replies are all puns. Nothing of worth, in my eyes.

    Guess that's just me.

    It's hardly a game-breaker. It's just annoying. And dumb.

    What?

I scroll past the groups of puns in both the main article and the comments afterword, with a slight mental note that I'm glad they're there. But they're not for me.

It's similar to how I feel about Christmas. I'd enjoy it a whole lot more if it could be a surprise, but instead it happens like clockwork. So I skip it.

    Merry Christmas!

How do you feel about it now?

Christmas just leveled, but it's still many levels away from being able to wield a Legendary Weapon.

Indeed, they aren't clever they are just annoying and cut in to actual useful information.

As compared to an account called "fuckpuns." Clearly that's meant to impart actual useful information.

The useful info it imparts is that the user thinks puns suck unlike your username which is just pointless.

I like pun threads ! I even more so like the facts that they are a sort of "tradition" that has sort of emerged by itself.

More troubling is that you seem to be the least-dreadful of the people in the top ten.
Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.

I absolutely love the pun threads. Since English is not my first language, it helps me improve my English too.
