I think we know better than to touch that post with a bargepole... I only engaged with you on it as you're generally a fairly sensible level-headed bloke and was just concerned you may have missed the point (that was badly made by most people writing about it, to be fair).

I can recommend Conquistador. Currently on my first playthrough and really enjoying it. Especially the writing. Wish I'd waited though as I paid a tenner for it just two weeks ago.

I was sold on the idea of attaching a torch and some explosives to a spear - I mean who wouldn't be?

so let me get this straight:

you are not buying a game because:

    1) There were some problems with a gameplatform, previously owned by the developer. Now completely irrelevant because everything is now under steam.

    2) There was some hearsay about the boss of the developer about sexual harrasment, wich is still have to be proven true

I see you got your priorities in the right order.

btw fallen enchantress is a great game, go get it.

Can you give us a heads up on what it's like once you try it out, please?

Well, I've had about half an hour with it, and my first impression is that it really is confusing. It does have a nice journal telling you all the possible recipes, but as far as I see there's no explanations on how to actually build shelters. The crafting, though, is full of stuff to do. For example, there are traps, wich you'll probably need to use to hunt bigger game like boars (deadly, deadly boars).
It's also different in that the night doesn't bring monsters or any such thing, what night brings is cold, wich can make you sick.
Again, I've barely tested it, and am not going to play more until tomorrow, but I'll tell you more then.

Take into account the game isn't even in beta yet.

No, I'm not buying the game because I don't want to support the developer and have no interest in the game. That Brad's a reprehensible person (far beyond the sexual harassment thing) and that the Impulse fiasco was a huge "FU" to their customers (all the more so for now forcing you to use Steam, to which Impulse was supposed to be an alternative) is just gravy.

Oh, yes, of course. But I'm not trying to make a judgement of the game, just of what you get for buying it now.

Yes, I suppose I didn't give the forum enough credit on that one. I'm happy to be wrong. And yes, I think you made the point more clearly than it's generally been made in the past. I still think it's an odd point to make in the context of something that's so generally distasteful, but I think our positions are mutually comprehensible and we can drop this topic and get back to the matter of buying games we don't need with fake money made by selling imaginary trading cards.

Thanks for the heads up on Under the Ocean. If I haven't run out of fake money by the end of the sale, I think I'll grab it.

I just read up on it and find myself mildly intrigued now; I think I'll follow the same course of action.
