I just die a lot in these games because people shoot at me, but playing Brink and/or Quake 3 should give me some pleasure.

jedi knight is not a manshoot. dark forces maybe, but as far as I know, that didnt have multiplayer.

Any and all Quakes by my votes!

    What about Doom?

I'd say Doom needs to be on the list.

As does Quake 1 and 2.

Anything from the 00's doesn't really count as Retro Manshooting.

Brink is new/poo. In fact actually fuck this game right off. No support or anything. It's absolute dick shit.

    UT99 is where its at.

Unreak 2k4 was just a Halo wannabe with shock rifles by that point.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein Enemy Territory (even if it breaks the '00 rule) would be much more suitable, especially over Quake Wars which was just out and out BAD and isn't retro.

I might consider ET, but I really love ETQW, way more in comparison. (Also very tired of the WW2 shooter genre)

So we will be either playing UT2004 or UT99. Will vote on that as soon as I think weve had enough votes. However, Im leaning towards UT99.

And Quake = Doom in my book. Though the former is a better multiplayer game.

I would love an opportunity to playe ET:QW again. I was in a clan back in the day, and haven't played in about... 6 years? Blimey, seems less than that.

Are any official servers (or indeed the global server) still running?

UT99 is seeming more likely, but is it good for teamplay then? because deathmatch is all fine and good but not to fill an evening.

There's loads of teamplay in UT99.

There were some pretty good Capture the Flag maps IIRC, and there's probably a bajillion map packs out there by now as well.

I liked Domination as well. I think they stripped it out of the later UT games, but basically each team gets points for controlling three places around the map, and whoever gets to 100 points first wins.

Also, there's Assault mode! I fucking loved that back in the day. Attack/Defense on various awesome-looking maps, that probably don't look quite as awesome as I remember them.

Quake 3 obviously. I think Brink is rather good though I've rarely found anyone to play with.

Also, Doom and Quake 1, which, Quanta, are completely not the same. Sven at school was literally unbeatable at Doom but a bit average at Quake. I would love to have another crack at those old Quake DM levels though admittedly the weapons are unbalanced.

And there is Team Fortress 1 of course. And Goldeneye!
