I suddenly feel the urge to lobby RPS to use RNGs to insert variable noise into each author's name.
Nah, that would be childish.

Try to see things in perspective - there has been three posts involving genitals and jokes, that's not FOREVER!
In fact, at time of writing I can't find any of the posts on the front page any more - nor do I see anything vaguely objectionable. (to me, but I'm a filthy liberal hippy). If you find that you can't read RPS with willy jokes (which there have been before Cara, mind you), perhaps you need to do some soul and/or genital searching?
As an aside, it's strange that articles with pixelbreasts cause such outrage, but that articles with pictures like 'splatter', basically a pile of blood and gore, causes no such outrage. In fact, no outrage at all. HMMM.Yeah well, the furnace is nice and warm and I'm bored.

True it hasn't been forever, it's just that the three or four posts in proximity raises a worry that it's going to become a regular thing, and this is a subforum for commenting on wot RPS is up to. =) (This isn't the first time I've complained about not-enough-clothes in the article images either, just the first time I've noticed it straying into actually no clothes and been moved to make a half-hearted filter).
P.S. Violence vs. immodesty in games and why they're sometimes judged differently is a thing I've thought (and previously commented) about too, but probably a discussion for a different future thread maybe, so as not to get too theoretical and away from this actual complaint about recent RPS stories!

You seem alright, Berzee, but I would seriously prefer more such material from Cara and from other RPS contributors because I find sexuality and body-politics in & around games to be interesting and worth reading and chatting about.
I think it's unhealthy to promote distaste for and shameful reactions to sex and sensuality and nudity and suchlike. That's not say I want RPS to become tentacle porn game portal or the online equivalent of nudist cybercafes/gaming centers (do such things exist?). I just think the topic needs to be broached with some regularity because our bodies are around quite a bit, you know, and sex is important to many people. There's much to be explored and critiqued there vis-a-vis games.
There might actually be a case for RPS writers having a policy of only showing nipples and/or genitals after the breaks. I don't mind such things showing up (I kind of like it, as I said) but I happen to be in a position where people won't be offended by seeing me viewing boobage or dong imagery or whatever. Having said that, I actually can empathize, and I think it's absurd to presume that RPS' readership can all choose our employers and/or reason them out of their insecurities.

"Quantacat's name is still recognised even if he watches on with detached eyes like Peter Molyneux over a cube in 3D space, staring at it with tears in his eyes, softly whispering... Someday they'll get it."
"It's frankly embarrassing. The mods on here are woeful."
"I wrinkled my nose at QC being a mod."
"At least he has some personality."

People read RPS at work?! We can't condone this. Back to your coalface, Berzee!

I'd rather see such things pushed back into the articles themselves, keep them off the Front page, and put a NSFW warning before the click through link. That way, Front Page is Safe for Work, and readers can click through or not, depending on where they are, what they're doing etc.
I don't think it's about being a prude, rather about not knowing where and in what context people are going to be viewing the site, and what people may or may not want to see without the choice being made for them. I teach, and at times that involves sitting in a Computer lab while undergrads work at their own pace and call me over when they have a problem. That means, I spend a good deal of my time in these classes on my laptop, browsing web sites... I'd prefer it if, when a student comes to talk to me and looks over my shoulder, there aren't digital representations of tits and twats and todgers on my screen. Yet, I'd still like to continue reading the site.
Pushing the 'offending' material back into the article and adding a little NSFW warning would keep the front page clean for universal browsing, and nothing would be lost.

In fairness, I should add:
- Some jobs are perfectly compatible with reading RPS at work. My job for instance has periods where I need to be working 100%, and periods where I am just waiting for the next work period. We're allowed to use the net during downtime.
- While many of us have no problems with nudity, what is acceptable personally and what's acceptable in a professional environment are totally different.
- The saints row pic and boobjam logo popping up in the Outbrain links on every article keeps freaking me out.

Well, I still find it silly that a website should keep in mind people's reading environment, what if I would be reading this in a nightclub that expects penises blocked behind black bars on every webpage(alright, its a bit silly)? If you really feel that inclined to read a censored RPS then why not put up a filter on your own firewall? Or turn of images(any browser can do that)? Its silly to try and force that behaviour on the writers or the rest of the readership.
Also, penises! Arent they great? One can use them for many purposes! Oh, and dont read this weeks bargain bucket, your dreaded image is back!PS2/NS2/Mumble: SirWigglyBottom

I wish I worked in one of these places where having dicks and boobs on your screen wouldn't get you in a heap of trouble (lunchtime browsing only of course). Unfortunately my boss isn't a freewheeling hippy and I would get bollocked. I'm not a prude but my organisation has a lot of under 18's in close proximity and we have to be careful about these things.
It's not a huge deal, obviously I can wait until I'm home to read RPS, but it's slightly annoying that my lunch-time reading has to be self-moderated just in case a pair of silly pixel-boobs should show up on my screen.

Off course it is silly that it would cause so much trouble! That's not the point here. The point is that it does, whilst it previously never was an issue.

Speaking of Dicks & Boobs™, can we have a chat about the "More from Rock Paper Shotgun" bit at the end of each article? Usually there's at least 2 links to nsfw/boobs/other clickcandy-type things I've noticed on other, lesser "news"-type aggregator sites. I know more clicks means more money, and the aforementioned clickcandy is likely to ensure more clicks with Clancy Computergameplayer, but. Yes, that's a thing, I suppose.

I installed ad block on RPS when they started showing the Thief ads. I couldn't stand seeing that thing that was pretending to be Garrett peering out at me from behind all that eyeliner. It seems I have been missing out on said dicks and boobs."What were we talking about? Pegasuses, pegasii, that's horses with wings. This motherf*cker got a sword that talks to him. Motherf*cker live in places that don't exist, it comes with a map. My God."
