I don't want to dump your enthusiasm, but you should prepare an alternative plan if we have only 2 or 3 squads. Our numbers have been lower recently, and last StratGir we got only 3 squads (which was a blessing in disguise as it allowed Laldy and me to sit in a closed Delta squad, to avoid disturbing the SL)

About that. Why not make 3squads platoon the standard fort tac/stratgir? So the PL is always in his proper squad with recon guys (let's say some infiltrators with quads and some high speed flying machines) and/or liaison between Platoons and/or liaisons between outfits.
I feel like this idea has been already said one million times.

3 squad platoons is fine when we have the people on for 5-7 squads, as was happening for a month or so.

When you've got just about enough for 4 squads though, a 2 squad and 1.5 squad platoon starts to feel overled and understaffed.

If we ever get back to June levels of activity (http://outfitpoints.com/OutfitDetail...09488620609255 see Online Members tab), then I'd very much encourage making the 3 squad platoon standard (we had been starting to move towards that)

Yeah, I see what you guys are getting at. I've also noticed that we've not been all that many on lately. We're going to skip the air squad then, if we don't get enough people to run four proper squads.

I've put CMaster down for Armoured Specialist Officer.
    Nick as TVA Liaison.
Ksempac and Dewi as designated drivers.

Seems sensible. If we actually get enough people for an air squad, I can probably take the role of CAG. We did some interesting things last monday, attacking in waves and stuff like that, which I'd like to try out. It would also be fun to get a couple of libs up in the air with proper ESF support, in order to take out enemy sunderers, MBTs and groups of infantry.

Don't you need a Carrier to be CAG?

Please god tell me they've patched in an airborne-carrier?

I meant being CAG in the sense Esoteric described earlier.

Although, an airborne-carrier would be veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery nice.

    Tonight?
    PL volunteers?

I've got something else I'd like to do, which doesn't involve leading at all. So I'm hoping for a good show in general.

    Yes.
I was thinking of doing a run tonight, unless there is someone else who REALLY wants to do it.

So, Screw Com Hem. Their ISP services have been less than utterly awesome lately. Keep losing my connection sporadically, tonight as often as several times every hour, so I never got to play StratGir tonight. :'(

Played some Shogun 2 instead, and the sneaky Takeda clan just swarmed me with a 6000 strong army... Not a good night.

Anyway, I'm off for the weekend too, so I'll try to catch you guys again next week, or whenever.

    Meanwhile, in Sweden...

StratGir tonight! Hype, hype, hype! It's going to be good!

I wouldn't mind PLing again tonight; got some ideas on how to improve on my previous attempts at inter-squad tactics.

So, I'm looking for three tactically minded squad leaders who won't mind shouting a lot of orders for a couple of hours tonight. I'm planning of once again run with one long range support-and-suppress squad (snipers, battle rifles, mana AV turrets, Bursters, Lancers, Vortices) this time also focused on supplying us with a backup spawn location, possibly also repair and rearm for our vehicles if possible. Two squads will be more general purpose, doing the close-up fighting and flanking when on foot, running the heavy duty equipment if we roll with tanks.

Candidates must have their Mumble binds set up (make sure to include the shout to current on all keys, so your own squad can hear you!) and be willing to work on cohesive squad-play, which generally requires a little bit of nagging initially.

    Any takers?

I thought last night's StratGir was great, thanks eso and all squad leaders, liaisons, etc. Also thanks to all on mumble, it was remarkably restrained with chat not interfering with orders. It was a pleasure to be a part of.

Oh, I was actually going to hop on here and apologize for last night's StratGir, but I was too tired to do that yesterday and had some other stuff that urgently needed to be taken care of.

I felt like I messed up a couple of things last night:
    - I really can't lead properly while also acting as part of a squad. I should have realised when it was time to leave and hop into the PL channel, but didn't.
    - I didn't really have the "mental momentum" to make sure we were always playing effectively and leading us to good fights, but people had to ask for new directions after every fight, towrds the end. That should not really happen, and I apologise for that.
    - I should probably have realised that with the TR pop on Miller in general and on Esamir in particular, they would come down on us like a fucking swarm of locusts, which of course they did. It sort of turned the first 40 minutes of mostly ghost capping, meant to provoke a fight away from Mani bio lab, into a meaningless exercise ending in a brutal steamrolling, which was not much fun. I should have seen that coming, and had us start somewhere else, perhaps shoring up the defences of one our other bio labs, or just trying to find a fairly even fight somewhere.

I personally didn't have a very good time yesterday, but I want to make it perfectly clear that that was no fault of any of you guys. People were being nice and responsive, squads were fairly tight and so on. We just started off with fewer players than usual, which sort of made my initial plans for the evening totally invalid, and I didn't recover from that quite as gracefully as I'd hoped to.

Anyway, better luck next time, I guess.

Props to Bravo last night, who I was SL'ing for a few hours. We had great cohesion 99% of the time, and possibly the fastest warpgate-to-galaxy redeploy I've seen. I timed it, for the whole squad, at 45 seconds. Orders were generally followed, with everybody trying to join in the new spirit of RPS and chivvying those who weren't listening!

Apologies for my dodgy mic, I need to have a look and see wtf it is playing at :/

EDIT: Eso, it was nowhere near as bad as you're making out. I think most people had a good time, and we were fighting well against big numbers. It's just a shame it was 18% population versus 52%!

    @ Eso

What you described was largely that we faced a significant challenge, not major failings on your part. I thought we were doing a really impressive job of holding back the TR horde for the time that I was on Esamir (the fight as Easmir munitions).
