I guess some old laptops for multiplayer indie games, or early 00s titles could be cool but the lower time and energy footprint the better.
There are a couple here in Manchester, there's Kyoto Lounge which is smaller, has some decent games, and serves beer. There's also GamerBase below HMV on Market Street which is bigger, but doesn't server beer and alst time I went, half the games licences couldn't be used as they were reserved for a tournament going on later.

We need a good idea of numbers really.

Sites I've found good stuff on in the past:

    http://www.welcomecottages.com/
    http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/
    http://www.homeaway.co.uk/United-Kingdom/r21234.htm
    http://www.independentcottages.co.uk

And Dewi had that group accom page earlier.

    There's also stuff like:

I'd second going to Vienna, but I'd probably wind up spending the entire weekend at Bermuda Braü.

Right, of course. I normally go for RobotChallenge, but tbh I should make two robotics trips a year to Vienna.

How does this look? It's not castle, but there is so much room for activities! London Luton airport isn't far away. Main downside I see is that the beds are stowaways and probably not the most comfortable.

We need an overnight venue that holds 20+ people, preferably self catering, and has room for board/tabletop games.

    OR

We need a venue for the gaming in an area where people can arrange their own accommodation nearby and we can grab food from nearby.

Personally I prefer the first idea, but I'm open minded on it. Any help looking for venues appreciated, as are any comments on the suggestions made thus far.

A castle in unlilkely - they tend to be remote and expensive.

Some kind of manor house is quite possible though.

We really need to know numbers though. Will set up a google form in a bit (unless someone else does it first)

I haven't filled the Doodle in because I don't know for sure if I can make it. But I'll really try so make that 20!

I'd also vote for a major house or similar with room for us all and a kitchen and some board games.
