    Second Dewi's date suggestion.

There's a doodle link here, shall we use it to choose the date?

I'm absolutely not mocking anyone, I simply love the enthusiasm behind this. I also love the escalation from a meetup in London to renting a stately home.

I'll probably not be able to attend, which is unfortunate, but if this does happen, I demand to see pictures/read AARs.
I'm wildly enthusiastic about this. Dewi's suggestions are totally incredible, yet just credible enough to make them VERY exciting. The only downside is no pets are allowed which means we can't also hire an actual giraffe (unless we can maybe classify it as 'entertainment' rather than a pet!...).

I believe this may have been the room he wanted to play boardgames in. For reals.

Without ruining the spirit of our insane planning, wouldn't the anniversary weekend of PS2 have triple SC/triple XP or something? Then we'd all be gutted we couldn't play and hating the people we're with because they're stopping us playing with the people we're with? Then something from the Shinning would happen.

    We need two shortlists:
    a) Possible dates
    b) Possible locations (London/Manchester/etc...)

Once we've got them, we can start voting for things. A google doc may be the best option, since we'd be able to select multiple options.

What's wrong with this community?! I was taught that the Internet is a dangerous place full of cons and kiddie porn, and you guys are all like "peace, love and understanding"...

Seriously though, I am once again amazed by the joy, friendliness and level of commitment people show here. I'll really try to get off for a weekend to join this, though it is a bit close to this thing, which I am attending too:

Yes! Yes! I have been looking for someone to play Space Alert with for ages (not all that hard, but still). It's such a fun, stressful, strange game. And RoboRally. I have a much too large section of my living room bookshelf devoted to board games that doesn't get enough playtime. Wouldn't mind bringing one or two, if I can make it.

Also, we should give Artemis a try (multiplayer coop Star Trek bridge simulator, available for iOS and PC).

What was the name of that other social "space-thing" game? You were supposed to play on one device each, having one set of controls, and you got a space for messages saying things like "Set space-time combobulator to 3", and you'd have to shout at someone else who had the knob for the space-time combobulator, and they would have to set it to 3 before something bad happens. And lots of that of thing happening at the same time and things coming and messing about with your controls, viruses scrambling the letters etc. Sounded awesomely fun when the GWJ guys talked about it at least.

The Staffs house is not an option I'm afraid, even if we do have the numbers for it. The availability at weekends is basically none this year.

Yes! I've played this and it is amazing. We had a full compliment on the ship and it was brilliant. Interesting to see what patches have brought.

You can also have multiple ships which is pretty cool.

Now imagine that but with loud scots instead

For people who do not know or missed the Cardboard Children post about it read more here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011...n-space-alert/

There is also this description of the game: "Imagine you and four friends are in a giant hamster ball. Now imagine that you have all been eating Snickers and drinking Red Bull for the last 48 hours. Now imagine that the hamster ball is careening down the Alps, bouncing off trees and skiers and dogs with whiskey barrels on their collars. Almost done - just one more thing - now imagine that you have to control this insane spherical avalanche of chaos, and that's Space Alert." from http://drakesflames.blogspot.se/2009/07/board-game-review-space-alert.html

Now add some beer and the aforementioned scots

But err... lets not derail this thread into boardgames, and keep it on actually find a date for this thing. Then we can talk boardgames. (Yes I know I am one of the main culprits here...)

If we could all go here and select the dates we're available, we can take a decent first step =)

Yeah, can someone with wizard powers lend us a hand?

Also, the poll currently just makes Dewi look awkward...
