Wolvenswan, do you have any decent recommendations for some modern punk rock which kicks ass and is _melodic_? Pop punk especially?

generally go to ifyoumakeit.com; lot's good and free poppy punkrock albums there.

also Latterman win big for songs like "Videogames and Fantasy Novels are awesome" and "if Batman was real all my friends would be in hospital"

Myself, I'm no big fan of this new-wave melody-core/pop punk Jimmy linked but some might like the bands featured here: http://www.stuffyouwillhate.com/2011...g-scene-trend/

Hey Wolfenswan, if you like RVIVR you should check out a band called Caves, their first EP is great, they're a band from the town over to me and are incredible live (unfortunately for online listeners, a lot better than recorded) and they have mentioned RVIVR as inspiration.

Certainly one of my favourite punk or around there bands. They are mostly funky punk, but this one is just straight up funk. Thought we needed some tune in the thread.

Wolven, Graveyard - guys, thank, that's exactly what I've been lookin' for.

Banner Pilot is OK - good one, great vocals and music. Reminds me somehow of Hot Water Music, I don't know why. Nothington sounds a bit like Creed with overdrives, this vocal is totally annoying. Cobra Skulls is a bit too old-school, Arms Aloft's kinda cool but not "melodic" enough :D. Off with their heads is great - they just don't care, I love this kind of attitude and Teenage Bottlerocket is a damn classic, we're playing "Bloodbath at Burger King" with my band ;)

Iron Chic is interesting, but I don't get this yet... this RVIVR is STRANGE but they've got a great chorus, Spraynard's too messy for my pop-punk tastes and Letterman... Damn, I'd love to go for a beer with this guys :D

I've been listening to "Caught in the act..." by Johnny Hobo lately, I'm addicted. This guy's amazin.

Do you have some more, anything interesting? Recent discoveries, something amazing you'd like to share? :D

Goddamn, I gotta check this thread more often!

    The Rumjacks:

    <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tDTQQWSmo8s" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="345" width="560"></iframe>

And Loaded 44 who I saw yesterday, pretty good but there's only live stuff on Youtube. Their FB profile has some sample tracks, new album due out at some point this year

Although mainly I'm in something of a psychobilly phase at the moment, thanks to finally recovering my Long Tall Texans CD's from my Ex.

this RVIVR is STRANGE but they've got a great chorus,
They share the singer/guitarist with latterman so there are quite a few similarities. They are going to tour Europe in September/October, check rvivr.wordpress.com

    Some non-poppy punk stuff.

Forgetters, ex-Jawbreaker/Jets from Brazil aka Blake's newest project. Only 1 EP out so far but it's amazing stuff.

Hot Snakes (ex Drive like Jehu)

    Obits (ex Hot Snakes)

    Wipers (so so SO good)

    For fans of crust/post-rock:
Fall of Efrafa (worth checking out but it is a bit of a departure from the rest of the thread):

A soul to bear (probably their shortest song)

    Dominion theology

Friends of mine just launched their newest project Bent Cross.

Bit of fucked up, bit of hardrock, bit of crust.

    Feeling a bit sentimental, so:

Instigators. Saw them live a couple of times in the eighties, but sadly don't have much by them except for a bootleg tape I made at one of the concerts (and I don't have a working tape deck anymore):

Metro Youth. Only song I know by them, but an old favourite, from Bullshit Detector II:

MDC. Saw them a couple of times live in the eighties too, one concert being one of the best I've ever been to:

Anyone else here into Sore Throat? I still think that Unhindered By Talent and Never Mind the Napalm... are cool albums. WHat a bunch of swell guys.

I would have liked to round this off with some Sludgelord but YouTube just wasn't having any of my business so here's a cover instead.

The clash is my favorite all time band. Something nobody's heard of to contribute: Barely punk, wandering off into odd melodic corners of hardcore is The Men from new york city.

They may have called themselves Metal Virgins but this isn't really heavy metal which is why it goes in here and not in the other thread.

I may not be much of a punk-listener, but I still do enjoy some bands, especially in crust punk. Like Disfear.

    Or Totalt Jävla Mörker.

And then there's Zeke, of which I learned from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
