    Saints Row IV thread.

Any of you played it yet? I'm not sure what to think, it certainly wasn't what I was expecting.

I don't think we get it in the UK until the 28th or something stupid like that, presumably in that time all spellings of color will be changed to colour? Can't think of any sensible reasons so perhaps it's that.

It's all super powers and stuff. You run faster than cars and can leap over buildings and shoot freeze rays and stuff. I don't know if I like this.

I like over-the-top stuff when it has at least some connection to reality and real-world laws. When it's super-hero clownry in matrix-esque cyberspace I'm not realy interested. And I liked The Third. Shame.

Yeah, that's what my steam said as well, I was a bit worried. I doubt I'll buy it, but maybe.

    VPN is your friend.

In short, it's more of the same but with superpowers. Saying that the fighting is pretty interesting.

My impression after 6 hours, is that can be a fun and compelling game.

Cool weapons and upgrades are attached to activities, so theres a reason to do these, no because you want to avoid the main part of the game.
There are stuff that feel challenging, but not hard in a unfair way.

I think the game don't try to make you laught, so much present you with the parts, and let you figure the joke. So is easier to ignore bad jokes (Are not in-your-face, I think).

Some of the gimmicky weapons are very cool.

The powers start very weak, but soon your are some sort of Spiderman-Hulk-Sorcerer, and enemies scale too.

I did not like SR3 much, but this one is working for me.

Can you eventually fly, does anyone know? I know you have that glide thing to begin with, but I'd like to fly toward the end.

Just now realized my Veep is Keith David, aka David Anderson of Mass Effect. Well shit, now I know why I have that warm fuzzy feeling.

Not sure (I'm about 9 hours in), but in truth you can glide pretty far and it's real easy to traverse the city just using the powerjump and gliding when you've powered them up a bit (I managed to glide from a high building all the way to the Island with the statue easily enough). I kind of think flying would detach you too much from the city tbh. Plus you are constantly going after data fragments etc all over the place, jumping works well enough for that.

    Blocked in the US.

It's just funny that I have David Anderson as my rabbi in a spaceship while worrying about the destruction of Earth... again.

I mean, this time around I have a gun that murders people with dubstep and a gun that plays John Philip Sousa while shooting fireworks, but deja vuuuuuu. Hell, in fine Bioware tradition I can still romance the man, the woman, and the robot in said spaceship. No word yet on whether I can romance the spaceship itself.
