Yes definitely. I think contextually it would be pretty meaningless otherwise as a lot of the jokes are based on character idiosyncrasies as well as send ups of other games . I'd also say it's worth playing SR2 as well, though you need to use a few mods to get that running ok on the PC, and even then it's very crashy (save regularly). You could get away with just playing SR3 though at a pinch.

    Ok, game, last chance.

Zimos was my favorite character from SR3. Does he return in SR4?

Just started playing SR3 finally in anticipation of SR4, mostly thanks to all the good word SR4 is getting. Its a lot better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be juvenile and a bit open-world-boring (and it is in places), but's its also nicely subversive and so over the top it's almost satire. I like it! As long as it doesn't get too grindy then I'm on board until the end (and the story missions have been really varied so far, so that looks unlikely). Looking forward to more from SR4 now :-).

I'm still only on the first levels, before you get freeroam, but goddamn, that opening mission blew the totally awesome first mission of SR3 out of the water! Excellent parody!

I think I spent more than an hour trying to recreate my character from the previous game. Most of the character customization options still seem to be there (and more) but is it just me or are a lot of clothes missing? Do you have to unlock them or something? A lot of my preferred outfits seem to be absent.

    Close enough.

Import didn't work or did you do it just for fun?

Yeah, you can simply import your old character. That's what I did.

Also, I has screenshots, but they're pretty much wall to wall spoilers.

Edit: SR3 v SR4. I swapped out the Hime cut because it's slightly longer in SR4.

    I keep it classy.

No hime cut? You're dead to me.

I wanted to export/import way back from SR3 but that didn't work at all. I could never connect to their server. Then I switched to a SSD in February and the gods know where all that stuff is now. I backed the entire steam folder up, of course, but ehh, too late now. Actually, when I said that I meant more how much fun fiddling around with the character editor is.

You can't just fire up SR3, open a save, export, fire up SR4, start a new game, import?

In this game I am Bruce Willis, in his Die Hard role, pretending to be The Incredible Hulk, using Mal Reynolds pistol all while listening to "You've got the touch" from Stan Bush.

    Fuck. Yes.

Right now I'm done with all the side missions and almost all of my powers are leveled up. I am a whirlwind of carnage and destruction, gunfire and explosions, dubstep and analprobes. This game makes SR3 look like GTA IV. It is amazing.

Okay, re-installing Saints Row 3 was a bit of a hassle but exporting eventually worked. Comparison:

That said, I really shouldn't have looked at my stats for the third game on saintsrow.com.

    I am the 0 percent.

Anyone else having trouble getting Vsync to work? The ingame option does nothing, the Nvidia control panel doesn't either. There's no tearing, but I get fps in the triple digits and my GPU heats up immensely for nothing.

It's over the top and crazy awesome. What's not to love? Do the super powers replace vehicles? Eeeh.. Kinda sorta not really? I love my cars and I love making them pretty and fully tuning them up. I still drive or fly planse most places. The super powers just give me a nice alternative option to needing a vehicle when some crazy alien decides to blow up my ride... Or my bad driving does.

I also love all of the weapon customization and how ridiculous they are. So many references in this game. So many. I also love the story. I lost count of how many times I've laughed my ass off at some of the things this game has thrown at me.

I only wish my friends were around more to play with them so I wouldn't have to worry about getting ahead of them in the story.... And that hand held explosives like C4 were still a thing. I loved sticking C4 to vehicles while driving away at full blast. Would've been great to do so while running at super sonic speeds.
