Yes yes, but the relevant question is: Will it come to the PC? I've promised myself to buy a PS1/2/3/whatever when the price of the hardware dropped low enough just to be able to pick up and play some classic titles exclusive to that particular platform. But then I never did because there were always enough entertaining alternatives available on the PC.

I'd only see me playing this if it made the jump to the system I already own (and it's the best of all the systems anyway, no? ;) ).

You would think a PS4 port would mean a PC port wouldn't be that far-fetched but everyone knows Naughty Dog hates PC for some reason.

SOE is a separate entity entirely from SCEWWS and PlayStation, so they have freedom to publish how they want. They could technically release games on Nintendo and Xbox consoles, but they don't.

Naughty Dog is part of SCEWWS which is exclusively a publisher for PlayStation and is under the PlayStation umbrella. So TLOU will not come to PC.

Wonderful. So I can understand why Naughty Dog wouldn't release an XBox 360 or Xbone port but what's their beef with the PC? Last I checked, the PC wasn't a competing console.

If I seem a bit miffed, please don't think my ire is directed at you. I just would like to play this game and I really don't want to buy a console to do it.

I can't even begin to emphasize how much this one game is worth buying a console for. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I can't even think of a game to come out on PC in the last few years that can even come close to it. And this is coming from someone who does ~95% of their gaming on PC and owns consoles only to play exclusives.

It's not a competing console, but it's a competing gaming platform. If Sony starts giving up it's sweet sweet 'sclusies less people will buy Playstations.

I'm in a bit of a pickle now. I was just about to get the Left Behind DLC. Since I know I will eventually get a PS4 sometime in the next 2-3 years, do I wait and get this remastered edition for $20?

It's a valid question, but simply I don't have the answer for this. It's SCEWWS/PlayStation business design is all I can say.

Depends how good this new version looks I say.

Wait a bit and if maybe DF or the other review sites say it's as good as it sounds visually, then maybe it will help you out with your answer.

Sorry, but I don't buy that argument. Gaming platforms don't compete against each other. Buying a PC does not necessarily mean you're then not going to buy a console, mobile phone, tablet, handheld gaming device, etc.

If I could have played RDR, Demon's Souls, Ensalved (Recently sold PS3 version after getting it again on PC), and the Uncharted Series on my PC, I would never have bought a PS3. Same for my Wii and 3DS with Zelda games.

It doesn't necessarily, but it does practically for many people.

I mean there's no use getting upset about it, this is the way it is. Business decision on Sony's part.

I've bought PlayStations for many years. I wouldn't see the point of doing so if all the games were available on PC at the same time either.

It might not seem like it to you, but it is the most similar argument to saying why shouldn't Sony release games on other consoles. Or why shouldn't Nintendo release games on other consoles. Or why didn't Sega publish on other consoles and PC before Dreamcast died.

It's very relevant to have exclusive and original content. Why doesn't AMC offer the full Walking Dead series on Netflix, they only offer seasons 1 to 3. AMC could put these shows on ABC or whatever, but they don't. It airs only on AMC first. Netflix and Amazon video and so on will tell the same thing with their original shows Orange is New Black and so on.

It's valuable for these companies to have exclusive content. Sony has known this for a long time that this is important, even though if others disagree. They have made it a point for many years since PS1 to expand SCEWWS to be ready to make all this exclusive material just for PS consoles.

Whether or not you buy the argument is here nor there. This is Sony's decision and they have determined it to have value for their properties. The boost in sales games like God of War II, Final Fantasy XII, TLOU and others have provided PlayStation consoles very, very late in the console generations (FF XII came out in 2006 after PS3 released, TLOU in 2013 only months before PS4 released) in terms of hardware and software is also undeniable. The exclusive content on PS platforms allowed it to maintain sales of hardware and software, and the hardware superceded the 360 in worldwide sales recently too.

It is also a common decision for many game publishers and the practice extends to other industries like TV networks as well. And if we are talking about IP or exclusive content even in form of patents or licensing deals, there are few companies in existence that would just send away rights to these IP and licenses unless there was a clear as day financial benefit to them. Anyway, all of those things are relevant to Sony's PlayStation business, and I would be less quick to question their management with all the success they have had over 20 years than I would question yours.

I could dream endlessly about Nintendo publishing games on PC and PlayStation, I could even hold my breath until my face turns blue, but even to their business in makes no sense. Nintendo has unbelievable amount of capital in the bank compared to the size of their company (5000 employees about). They make great profit on every 3DS sold, and likely profit on even every WiiU sold. And even despite their allegedly lackluster WiiU showing, and arguably poor game sales for WiiU, there is little argument that even the best investors could make that would suggest that Nintendo going third party would benefit Nintendo in the long term considering how financially healthy they are and continue to be.
