    Rock, Paper, Life Is Feudal

First, this is the server information:

PingPerfect: Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Horace Is Feudal

    password: rps

Once you find it the first time you can simply add it to your ingame favorites.

Or open the console and type

    joinToRemoteServer("88.150.145.79:28020","rps")

Second, what is Life is Feudal?

Life is Feudal is a medieval crafting, open world, sandbox, free-pvp game. It's combat is much like Mount and Blade and its crafting is much like Wurm Online. It's in alpha, very very early access and RPS has a server.

If you hate free-loot no holds-barred pvp games, relax. This isn't Day Z or Rust. A new character spawns with a handfull of cookies and overalls, so the chance that someone could come into the server and start griefing is very small. The skillcap means players have to depend on each other, not to mention that skills train up very quickly so a new player, given the proper tools, will be able to hit the skillcap in a manner of hours. Also, there are two health bars: consciousness and health. If consciousness falls to zero (which generally happens) before health, you wont die, so it is perfectly possible to have non lethal pvp.

    Very Important (Bugs):
-Windowed mode apparently greatly reduces crashes and load times. Minimizing the game supposedly helps people who have very long load times (10+ min). Disabling V-Sync also helps.
-A lot of people have a problem where their character will freeze. The game doesn't crash but there's basically nothing you can do as you become stuck in an animation loop. If this happens to you open the command prompt (press ' ) and paste this line in:

    ServerConnection.resetMoveList();

(remeber it's the alpha-est of alpha, people)

Hadnt heard of it so far. Does it support private servers?

Full loot open PvP sandbox games are terrible and bad, but at least this one has the sense to cap skills from what I can see.

Setup doesnt seem much different from space engineers (in terms of game mechanics/possibilities). Problem isnt the setup, its just a matter of having a good server with good people.

Quanta: yeah it supports private servers. If its good I'd love it if we could get an rps server.

30€ is a bit too steep for an early access for me, especially with the plethora of games I already have.

It's very promising. The eventual goal is a full persistent online world. The current version on Steam is a kind of player-hosted-training world version.
I would say it's a mash-up of all the good parts from Wurm Online, Mount n Blade, Darkfall and Haven & Hearth, although obviously still an early Alpha. Servers are quite unstable at the moment from the sounds of it, had a few client crashes myself (I played 12hrs solid yesterday).
Bit pricey, but you do get your first MMO-version character included in that (20 euro otherwise I believe), characters are also re-trainable so your not stuck with one build for life.. I think their main website sells it slightly cheaper than Steam too.
If I sound like I'm trying to sell it, it's because this is the game I've been waiting for since... well, forever.

Well its potentially that game. For 30€, its an expensive gamble.

Yeah this definitely sounds like the game everyone who played Wurm dreamed that would become, and then quit when it became evident that it wasn't going to become that. I'm on the fence though, because its pricey and because right now Im getting my creative kicks with space engineers.

It is pretty buggy and incomplete. You'd be buying to support development at this point and not a lot more (they failed an indiegogo fundraiser and this version is to try and raise capital I think).

Darkmalice, how would you compare it to space engineers, for example? In terms of playability and stuff you can do.

Sorry I've never gotten around to playing Space Engineers (although it is gathering virtual dust in my library).
Just now you can craft a bunch of stuff to eventually get tools, weapons, armours and buildings. You can mine through the terrain, flatten land and shape the terrain into hills/slopes. The buildings are prefabs (they look real nice) but I think future goal is for building per block. You can farm, crops, lay traps for animals, track for hunting. The mobs seem limited to wolves & moose at the moment.
It does crash every few hours for me, they have put out a hotfix yesterday and another is due this week I think.
It's much, much faster than Wurm, less grindy, but not Minecraft fast.
The skill tree doesn't look huge but there's a lot of depth in there, each skill unlocking stuff at lvls 0, 30, 60, 90 & 100.
Character customisation is quite limited. There's races, of which I don't see a difference; armour outfits (can't see how that affects anything) and some variation allowed on your starting skills/attributes. No female avatars yet.
You can customise the server quite a bit right now: skillcap, craft speed, smelting/farming speed, animal count. One map available, it takes about an hour to walk across it.
We're playing it at 25% faster skillgain and we've not got a house up yet with 5 or 6 of us doing stuff, lol.
Some of the UI isn't very clear, there is a fair amount of stuff to keep you busy for a while. The skill point limitation means you can only specialise in one or two trees, combat skills have a separate skillcap again. You'll need alts or friends to get much done.
Hope some of that helps :P
We're going to get our own server up from the weekend I think, so you'd be welcome to play there if you do splurge.

Would this server be an RPS server? This is actually pretty major for me, as these kinds of games depend a lot on who Im playing with.

You find out that some people simply are dicks. And that public randoms are never to be trusted.

I've got to admit, I could be hooked by "Wurm but less grindy". Sounds like I'll be waiting a while before dipping in to this, though.

Yeah, it is something I will be keeping an eye on but will be sticking with Wurm for now.

Is the PvP fully open? Greifing absolutely ruins games such as this and while I am interested if I am going to be constantly killed by man children I will not waste my time with it.
