Yes. Buying a ship will only do you any good in the persistent universe hosted by the devs.
There will also be modtools and as the game runs on Cryengine I am pretty sure it wont take long for the first Star Wars and Star Trek mods to be announced ;)(Firefall: bug shot) // (PS2: bobby is going home)

I dont want mods, I want a persistent universe with just me and some or one chum. Fuck the massiveness of MMOs.- Tom De Roeck.
"Quantacat's name is still recognised even if he watches on with detached eyes like Peter Molyneux over a cube in 3D space, staring at it with tears in his eyes, softly whispering... Someday they'll get it."
"It's frankly embarrassing. The mods on here are woeful."
"I wrinkled my nose at QC being a mod."
"At least he has some personality."

I'm looking forward to really random encounters with other players... helping and hindering. As it's described, the way the economy will run missions seems very interesting. Like someone might take a mission to help you escort stuff to a planet and defend your delivery against pirates... or you may be the pirate attacking that route and someone takes a mission to attack you.... ccooooolll....

Latest big info is to do with Organisations and is a fairly important read. The biggest thing, right now, is that you are only permitted to join 1 organisation at a time. That said, we'll need to have a think about who is involved and who would want to help set up an RPS one. Perhaps if any of the RPS staff have backed it, we may be able to get an official nod for it too.

Also we dont need to think about the name, we can change it on the fly. We should only try to snag the RPS shorthandle asap ;)(Firefall: bug shot) // (PS2: bobby is going home)

So the Organization thingy is live and I snagged the RPS tag for us:
Everybody is welcome. I will see to hit to get familiar with the whole admin thing. If long term board members want admin rights in the org, tell me. Not like much will happen there right now, but hey. It's good to have ;)(Firefall: bug shot) // (PS2: bobby is going home)

I've been so out of the loop with the information released in the last couple of months. Last time I heard much of anything was when the Dogfighting module was demoed by them. Anyhow, I've submitted my application. You can tell it's mine. It has an, urrrm, flair about it.

Weehee! The first member already ;)
I already gave the site some flair with my limited GIMP skills. If anyone has some fancy Photoshop skills and is willing to improve the look (you can change the icon, header image and background image) then simply step up. Sadly I couldn't find a better then 1080p YouTube source for the header image. I find it quiet fitting :D(Firefall: bug shot) // (PS2: bobby is going home)

Why did I know, the instant I read the newsletter, that you two would have been all over it within the hour? :p
I'll send my application when I get back from work and then we can all imagine we're having a big party in my fancy Constellation. There will be a barbecue and space beer. Lots of space beer.

I put some money aside throughout the year to grab one before the LTI ended, I figured it would be a nice way to have some multi-crew fun or even lend it to a fellow RPSer without worrying too much about losing it. But didn't Carpe_Dentum mention he had one too? Our fleet is already unstoppable!

I've been very hooked on this for a long long time, but have kind of held off due to time constraints (and Battlefield 4).
However I think it's time to go for something else than FPS and bite the bullet (plus hopefully be able to put a Saitek X52 Pro to good use again).
Will there be much advantage in going for the slightly more expensive packages with more expensive ships or will I be perfectly fine with the starter pack with the Aurora class? Or should I shell out a bit extra and get the 300i class?
I've been trawling various forums etc but just can't make up my mind ... I haven't decided on play style at all, as I am equally attracted to the explorer/trader role as well as the bounty hunter / security escort role.
Assuming that I could squeeze in with the RPS Star Citizen crowd considering that I very much enjoy the online company of the peeps I've encountered playing BF and extrapolating that surely the Star Citizen crowd can't be that bad either ;) ...what is the primary play style of the organization? Would one role/ship be completely off for what you guys are doing or is it just a hodgepodge of people enjoying the same game but not really striving for a particular goal?

Well, we're not doing much as the game isn't out yet, and it won't be for a while.
What will we do once it's out I have no idea.
Regarding ships. You will be able to get anything in-game. Buying packs just meant insurance for that ship, but I think that no longer applies. Bonkers or JG could probably inform you better than me.
