    Bad version despite correct version?

    Here is the most comprehensive list of things I have tried:

    - I am seeing a red circle next to the server hosted by some friends of
    mine, and receiving the bad version error message.

    -My version is correct (apparently the same as others that can connect,
    though im not sure how I would change version as steam handles updates)

    -I am definitely not in the dev build mode ('none' selected).

    -I have verified game files

    -I have opened ports

    -I have reinstalled from the supplied disk

    -I have deleted everything and reinstalled via download from steam

    -This issue was present vanilla arma 3.

    -Tried installing addons and then disabling them and also deleting them

    -Other servers display green as they should. Some show orange circles/red
    crosses

    -The server has been reset and tested with battleye disabled

    -Server files reinstalled and it is running vanilla

    More information: I bought the game recently, and the server was working
    fine up until a couple days ago.

    I assume the issue is something to do with me, as everybody else I have
    asked can still connect to the specified server ('RPS ARMA 3').

    Its odd, in the bottom right where addons would be listed, arma 3 is showing
    in red, which almost suggests that it thinks arma 3 is an addon i dont
    have.... though I am running vanilla arma 3 in the first place.

    Anybody know a fix to this?

    Cheers

    I meant to ask you this yesterday, have you tried connecting to the Folkarps server? Also can you ask server admin to peak at their log files to see if there is a more enlightening message?

    isnt folkrps running addons?

    Also, I have access to serverside, but im not exactly all that sure what to look for.

    This is the contents of the connection log file:

    [2013-12-04 22:37:31] Log session started

    [2013-12-04 22:37:31] [0,0] SetSteamID( [A:1:0:0] )
    [2013-12-04 22:37:31] [1,2] Connect() starting connection (eNetQOSLevelLow, 209.197.29.196:27017, UDP)

    [2013-12-04 22:37:32] [1,2] ConnectionCompleted() (146.66.152.15:27017, UDP)
    [2013-12-04 22:37:32] [1,2] RecvMsgClientLogOnResponse() : [A:1:1259768833:3817] 'OK'

    [2013-12-04 22:43:04] Log session started

    [2013-12-04 22:43:04] [0,0] SetSteamID( [A:1:0:0] )
    [2013-12-04 22:43:04] [1,2] Connect() starting connection (eNetQOSLevelLow, 209.197.29.196:27017, UDP)

    [2013-12-04 22:43:04] [1,2] ConnectionCompleted() (146.66.152.14:27019, UDP)
    [2013-12-04 22:43:05] [1,2] RecvMsgClientLogOnResponse() : [A:1:1280361472:3817] 'OK'

    Not very informative to my eyes.

    Im not sure where else to look in the files to get anything more.

    A more comprehensive list of what ive tried added to OP ^.

    If the server's Red Circle = check what version it's running and check what version you're running. 90% it's not gonna be the same.

    -I am definitely not in the dev build mode ('none' selected).
    Hah, welcome to ARMA on steam. You can be on DEV build even if you have none selected.

    -I have deleted everything and reinstalled via download from steam
    Did you just delete the folder, use "delete local" on steam or uninstall via the control panel?
    Do a proper uninstall via the CP, manually delete ALL folders the game has created (in Users/roaming or local or w/e, your documents and the normal install place), remove any register keys regarding the game and restart your computer.
    Now: install the game via steam, once it's installed - launch it once and check what version it says at the main menu.
    Make sure you, your friends and the server are all running that version. Also check that the server doesn't have any mods hidden in the /servermods folder or that it's whitelisting (checking for Bisign and BiKey's. It shouldn't.).

    -Other servers display green as they should. Some show orange circles/red
    crosses

    Have you tried connecting to one that's green? Did that work?

    -Server files reinstalled and it is running vanilla
    Just removed and redownloaded or properly uninstalled and deleted?

    And do what Bodge said, try connecting to Folk ARPS' A3 server after you've done the clean install.
    If that works, your A3 Vanilla install is all good.

    My version is the same as other members who can connect, so if they can join, the version should be fine. 1.06.112613

    If there is a way to definitively fix this, please do tell :).

    The first time, I did a delete local, but afterwards realised that this left some remnants.

    Second time I deleted the arma files in documents and made sure the steam files were gone.

    I havent done an uninstall via CP, but I can try that I suppose. Im assuming reinstall via disk should be fine, as id rather not have to do another fucking long download.

    Register keys, though? Ive not done this. I suppose it would be worth checking.

    There is no /servermods folder at all.

    There is, however, an a3.bikey file.

    Connected fine to a random green server.

    Yes I can connect to folk arps now, without reinstalling.

    So I guess my version is correct... Now to figure out why the RPS server doesnt think im running the correct version?

    Could it be something to do with my registry/install, or the bikey file, or something else entirely?

    Thanks for helping out, by the way, I appreciate it.
