    Mari0 is a real game!

    From the devs site -

    "Mari0 factsheet

Since Mari0 is suddenly popular, I guess posting some information will be useful.
    • Yes, this is an actual game being developed - it is not a mod of any existing one. It’s coded with Löve (info at the bottom of the left menu) and will be released for free (so we don’t get stabbed by lawyers)
    • All the source code of the game will be available after release
    • The game will have mappacks, which will be downloadable from ingame. Users most likely won’t be able to publish maps directly, but will be able to send them in and we’ll add them for everyone to use.
    • The primary maps will have a story and some portaly puzzles. What kind, well, we’ll figure that out as we go
    • Level editor will be embedded in the game so you can edit the level while you play
    • Original SMB levels and Lost levels will be included
    • Simultaneous Multiplayer"

Stab Yourself has updated his blog with some "Legal ramifications". http://stabyourself.net/

"We have sent Valve a “Please don’t stab us” request,"

    :)

I can't see Nintendo's lawyers stepping in to try and stop Mari0 getting released. After all, Super Mario Bros Crossover is still available - http://www.explodingrabbit.com/games...bros-crossover

Wow; Not Tetris 2 by these same guy[s] is AMAZING. Ridiculously fun. I never really jived with Tetris but this is just crazy.

If you place the bricks perfectly you can play it mostly like normal Tetris, but eventually things just go wonky and you're trying to just shove things in and then the screen practically resets as everything breaks into little tiny chunks and fills in the gaps. It can be pretty unpredictable at times but I keep coming back to it since I tried it last night after looking at Mari0. 2243 is the highest score I've managed.

    "So, you like co-op, huh?

I wasn’t kidding when I said “as many players as you want”."

This is going to be fun! :)

    Update!

    "Giantbomb's live 4-player coop footage!

Last friday, the awesome crew at Giantbomb got an early build of the game so they can showcase it on their weekly live show. This is the mad result.

"Hard at work, or hardly working?

Two weeks without a new blogpost! No we’re not dead and neither is Mari0 - in fact it’s coming along nicely. Being mostly done with the portal device and portals themselves, I started on portal props like buttons, doors and emancipation grills. And with “started” I mean they’re pretty much done. I’ll make light bridges, comboings and lasers next.

Here’s a screenshot of some subject to change stuff."

This game looks pretty good. If it were released for a typical indie game price, I'd definitely throw my money at it.

Spinks is also known for the creation of "Super Mario Bros. X", a freeware game that mimics the style and gameplay of the Super Mario Bros. franchise of side-scrolling platform games, augmented by the inclusion of a custom campaign and a level editor. He ceased presentation and distribution of the game after being contacted by Nintendo directly.
    So it's not that improbable.
