I don't understand how no one has remade that game yet - who doesn't love dinosaur riding, sabertooth tiger run and wife tossing? (though it would probably be "significant other tossing" these days... did the female characters throw men instead?)

I'll let Arathain have his go since I've went recently and he didn't have a chance to post.

I have no sort of a brain for this sort of thing, and I won't get home and fed for another few hours. Knowing me (which I do) I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'm serious about having to work out all over again how to post pictures. I've maybe done it like three times ever?

I'll try and come up with something and you can all be suitably surprised.

Easy one while you wait. If you guess it, maybe you can tell me how the hell the arcade version was called. I loved playing it in front of a cabinet with wheel and pedals, but I can't find any mention of it online.

Names that have been thrown around: Micro Machines, Chequered Flag, Turbo Rally, Slicks'n'slides.

F-1 Spirit (Jesus Phish). Some more details in this post.

It kinda looks like Chequered Flag but that didn't get a PC release to my knowledge.

Quick! Someone summon RobF, I'm sure he could give hints better than me (or the solution)

    OK, I got one.

I miss that style of racing game. It was neat. Old Micro Machines multiplayer was fantastic.

Slicks 'n Slide was our preference as kids. Four guys playing on one keyboard, good times!

    Nope, keep guessing.

To be a little more overt, the screenshot is actually from a remake. I'll update the post now.

    edit: one more hint:

While the cars pictured are not F1, this game is indeed about F-1.

F1 spirit or sprint I can't remember which the second one is. It always struck me as weird because it's meant to be a F1 game but the car models look nothing like formula 1 cars.

    We have a winner!

The coin-op had many racing classes and a career mode of sorts, where you would start racing in a beginner's class, then move on to rally, endurance (with day/night), and finally hit the open wheelers.

It had tire wear, damage, and you could do pit stops to get a refuel or have your car fixed or the tires changed.

The remake, which is inspired by the MSX version (that I never played) can be found here: http://www.braingames.getput.com/f1spirit/

Both games, coin op and MSX, were made by Konami.

I believe it's arathain's turn since he has one to post and won the previous guess.

Gurgle, I checked Hegemony Rome and said to myself - oh look no trace of that tall grass, must be mistaken. Well I guess that spares you from having to identify some crappy 2D screenshot I didn't even take myself.
