On the last turn he attacked my flying legion that's been claiming territory and causing him so much bother. His legion had much better stats than me ( 1-4-1 to 2-1-10 I think) but had the Rod of Pain attached and with some lucky dice rolls managed to squeak a draw.
Depending on what he does now my delaying tactics may be at an end though, there isn't much I can do to stop him from getting both +2 Places of Power.
Upside of this turn, at least I have nothing left to steal now.
What baboonanza said. On that turn I had expected to win until baboonanza threw up his teasing message on the forum, then I was fearing the worst until I came home and found that it was at least only a draw.
The turn after had both of us with wounded legions standing next to each other. If baboonanza had had the first turn he could have killed my legion, but now I went first and could turn the advantage around. Depending on what baboonanza did with his turns he might have killed my legion, thrown his own legion to its death against them or something else.
Turned out the something else he did was turn tail and flee.
Can't beat a good fleeing. :)

I was 90% sure that you'd put a -2/-3 melee combat card on your legion in the first turn, so not getting to move first there wasn't much I could do.
And now you've won your vendetta, gaining access to both PoPs (taking that extra canton with your second legion was a clever move!). Watch your back :)
OI! A new turn went out this morning and I haven't had a single turn file yet :)
Keep this up and I'll have to send my flying Monkeys out to spur you on. And trust me, it's much harder to put in a good turn with dreadful 60s pop being sung directly into your ears at 100db!
