Giraffes Do Crafts - The Challenge Thread

    Hello Giraffes!

    The Proposal:

    The idea is simple...

Step 1 - Post a challenge. This can be anything crafty or physical, like making something, or doing something. This could be anything at all... Even edible goods!

Step 2 - Others reply to that challenge with a photograph of them doing said task, or of the created item. Hell, even if its write a quick poem, digital or hand drawn art... something creative.

    But... Why, Paul?
Recently, Grumpy posted his awesome thread about making 3D printed outfit logo medals.

As somebody who likes to make things and do random crafts, I thought the idea of one of our members making something like this for the community was awesome!

Inspired by this, I challenged the people viewing the thread to make their best origami giraffe.

I didn't actually expect any responses, but the next day sure enough there were a few photos of peoples own versions of origami mammals.

While it is entirely possible that this thread will die a horrible fast death, I thought it would be fun to explore the groups creative side, and see what people can do!

So by all means, please feel free to think of all kinds of crafty challenges!
Don't be shy. Anybody can propose anything!

It was pretty late in the evening, by the time I took the challenge, so I sorta had to use the materials that were at hand. As a result, I'm afraid that I have pushed the origami envelope, just a bit.

Pauly, your kitchen looks exactly like Dewis kitchen inverted.

    Kitch-puter desk.

More importantly: At what point did you view Dewi's kitchen? The morning after the night before? :P

Did he have a white surface with a black origami giraffe standing on top?

Your challenge is to make one of these big enough to actually wear on your head.

I checked with the production manager and we don't have any 600x600 squares of giraffe print origami paper.

    I know, I know, I'm angry too.

Damn. Lots of small pieces + tape?

I actually taped two really thin long strips together to make a cobra last year. Even then, the paper wasn't long enough :|.

I have a new challenge, although the paper giraffes are awesome and don't stop making them.

I'm making a larger medallion / coin kind of thing. I'd like to challenge y'all to make a smaller medal design, useable as a military decoration type.

Sometimes I get a bit manic and then I talk too much and wall-of-text a lot.
This rarely lasts for more than a week or so at a time. Feel free to ignore any and all walls of text at your leisure.

Design, as in Paper, or as in physical model?

Get me a nice 3D model and I'll have a silicon cast of it before the next large meetup. (Not before the swedish meetup, thats a bit too soon).
