Ridley Scott is now a hack who doesn't care about his own movies it seems if he constantly needs director cuts to fix them.

^I hope you realise that in most of times shitty cuts are dictated by producers and movie companies? Like Leone's Once Upon a Time In America, which was supposed to be ~4 hours long movie. They scrapped ~1,5 hours for USA theatrical release...

I would agree with you for Blade Runner Ridley Scott but now a days Ridley is a yes man and doesn't fight them at all and you only get "his" film in directors cut if at all since a lot of times the changes are in the script as well. Man do I wish for the original film that Robin Hood was going to be.

Director's cut seems to be a marketing term these days, to get people to buy things twice. Like GotYE.

I've thought a lot about this and come to the conclusion that it is Fellini's "Nights of Cabiria" (Le notti di Cabiria)

That film never fails to make me happy. It's ending is entirely unique, in the way that it's both devastating, yet uplifting all at once. I love it so much that it's hard for me to talk about, though. It's almost a religious experience for me. I always watch it whenever I'm depressed, when I have a big change coming on in life that I'm nervous about, or when I am celebrating something big.

Ditto, added to my (depressingly long) watch list.

I was just cleaning up my Youtube favourites and stumbled across the following from Exotica, the film I previously spoke of.

    Still gets me.

Depends on how you measure 'Best'?
In terms of box office it did great, not a fan myself for a number of reasons

When is a movie too long ? LOTR is long but I don't care. The hobbit is TOO long... In my opinion a movie can be too slow, but it's rare that's it too long.

Yes you should. And watch it with your heart not with a critical mind. Keep that for later.

Can't believe nobody mentioned the greatest rockumentary ever made.

My favorite film is Lost in Translation. However it probably isn't the best film ever since people seem to either love it or hate it.
