Why is it that every time there is an energy shield it's generator, emmiters or controls are situated OUTSIDE the shield? Stupid game world engineers.

Turning it on magically teleported you outside?

If a shield is spherical to stop tunneling under it, does it really suck to be a sci-fi mole?

When your character dies and you load a save game, is that some sort of magical time travelling device, or is it showing a dimension where our character failed? If the latter is true, then there's about a thousand Gordon Freemans of mine that fell to their death in Xen alone. And it also means that all our characters are clairvoyant, as they can see into the future. THAT WAS NEVER EXPLAINED IN THE 30 MINUTE TRAM RIDE.

To be fair, a lot of games which lean on the 4th wall have played with this idea (Super Meat Boy's Hell zone is explicitly filled with the corpses of the hundreds of Meat Boys who died all your failed attempts at the levels prior to it; Marathon Infinity (IIRC) implies that the player character's unique makeup has actually allowed him to survive death [via save games] and so on).

In the gamebook The Heart Of Fire, you play a seer, and so any "death" is intepreted as seeing your death in the future, so you can die as much as you like without having to lose any progress.
Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.

Do sci-fi shields work both ways? Can't you just leave the shielded position but not come back again?
Maybe they are like in the Star Wars pequels...

You can at the very least play another game. Maybe more.

Ground Control shields didn't have that problem, but you could always just walk up under them or wither them with so much artillery fire they failed.

I miss so many cut-scenes because I read my phone during loading screens.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

Well, let me rephrase that then - activating the shield won't teleport you away from the On/Off switch, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to switch it off after activating, no matter which side of the shield you are on. Unless both switches are kept apart from each other, which would be terrible design. ;)
