Free Sims 2 for all! YOU get a Sims 2! YOU get a Sims 2!

    https://account.origin.com/cp-ui/redemption/index and use I-LOVE-THE-SIMS

EA is "giving away" Sims 2 with the whole shebang of expansions for free, but you need Origin to install it (I guess).
Sims 4 doesn't have toddlers nor pools and costs Infinity$, but Sims 2 does and it's free. Activate before EA realizes this and pull the superior game from the virtual penny jars.

Yeah, thanks a heap. Also just in case, you can also just enter this in the Origin client directly if you go to the redeem dialog.

omg I got a Sims 2! Thankee. (I say that as someone who bought the original Sims, thought it was absolutely awful and never looked back to the series, even though I remained curious about it)

    Awesome.

Apparently I also have Sims 3 basic... I think that was a Humble Bundle.

Stop thanking me! What have I done to deserve this?
It's not like I hacked into EA's systems and gave this freebie to everyone. If I would do that, I would FORCE every Origin user to install and play Mirror's Edge and NFS Most Wanted (the real one, from 2005).

Can you even get the 2005 game anywhere these days?

Good question, actually. I enjoyed that game, though I thought Hot Pursuit 2 (2002) was the better NFS game. The whole open world racing thing sounds like a better idea than it actually ended up being. Similarly, Burnout 3 is the one true Burnout game.

Anyway, nice to get free, complete Sims 2, especially since 3 didn't do much for me and 4 is clearly going to be an artificially hobbled, micro-transacted train wreck.

The Sims was always a great game about house building for me.

My physical copy is stored with religious fervour and gets installed in all my computers. Looks like it's time for GOG to release it.
I've also been playing the sequel, NFS Carbon and while it's not as good, it still has that je ne sais quoi.

I though this was just going to be for people who already had Sims 2, getting the ultimate. Maybe they realized that was going to screw over a lot of people who owned Sims 2 but had no way of making Origin see that and decided to bite the bullet. Good for them. :)

Do I really need to install Origin to play this? Not sure if it's worth it. Perhaps in a VM and then copy the files over.

You have to install the game. I guess I don't find the client that much of an imposition. You already need an EA account to redeem it trough the Origin store, and have needed an account for many in-game features and for support requests going back well before Origin.

Especially if you have nothing else on origin, you can just think of it as your Sims 2 launcher.

If installing a program in a virtual machine and trying to copy the files usably over to your main operating system is considered less of an imposition than just having Origin, I really don't understand how your mind works. o.O

    To each their own.

Thanks. I doubt I'll ever even play it, but it's nice to have that option.

Which is better 2 or 3 (loved 2 and IMO best, but not actually tried 3 to say if true. :P ).
It is a technical difference, but's there none the less.
