Because modded it's more enjoyable that many of those other games? It's like saying why have ketchup on chips, why not just eat something else if you don't like them plain?

And you bought up body replacers, which are a subsection of a huge number of mods for the likes of Oblivion. Of which 'huge boobs' is a subsection of that. Not that there's anything wrong with modding a game to make the characters more aesthetically appealing to you. They're not real people.

Not really. Ketchup doesn't change what the chips are.

I think you'll find big boobs mods make up a huge amount, as do utterly disgusting armour types and lore-breaking nollocks that people love to throw into Oblivion/Fallout. It's a royal pain in the arse to find the decent mods.

Remember that the original comment that sparked this sub-discussion was about how the gameplay was 60 hours of total garbage to acidtestporfolio but he was going to play it anyway. ;)

I have to agree with Unrav on the body mods. I eventually found some plain mods for nudity (because I find it amusing, and less silly than everyone wearing the same enormous pants) for fallout 3, but christ, it took a while. Just ordinary people with average 'assets', please, not blimb-titted shaven dolls or tattooed porn stars with gigantic erections, please. Seems like there's only one offering either out of hundreds of embarassing wank fantasies.

And don't get me started on the clothing/armour mods. Looking as much like a ridiculous skank as possible is not looking good, guys. Style and class and, y'know, protective armour do not mean "stripper".

Eh? To date Bethesda have never produced one bangable female in a video game. Guess you’re talking about Vegas.

I repeat my statement. And this is from a man who was once turned on by Whoopi Goldburg.

You didn't say attractive. You said bangable. You could bonk Nova (Or at least it was heavily implied you did).

Urban Dictionary defines ‘bangable’ as attractive.

And now that my creditability is through the roof, I will gracefully retire to eat my bangers and mash.

Come on, kids, let's be serious now and show that PC Gamers have something else in mind.

Tes Nexus has 23930 mod files for Oblivion, 1890 are armour, 793 clothes, and 1705 models.

That leaves a touch under 20000 that aren't possibly rude body or clothes mods.

Sorry but the Bethesda mod guys do an amazing job with those games, yes sometimes breaking the 'lore' entirely but so what? Like it was so wonderful to start with. The fact that they can do so much in there is amazing.

And you can change pretty much every element of the game and get something unrecognisable. To the point that you might want to play it when you didn't like the original. The saddest thing is that people who hold that view will never play NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer.

And yes, there are body mods. Some of them improve the body textures and up boob size. Again, so what? It's 'unrealistic' is bollocks frankly. Some girls have big boobs. The problem with Oblivion is that you can only have two body types at once (male and female) and so whatever models you go with, everyone will have exactly the same body shape and proportions regardless of age or race. But yes, playing in a world where everyone has E-cup boobs is so much more unrealistic and plain offensive than playing in one where they all have average C-cup boobs.

Why would anyone not play Oblivion with nude mods? There's nothing else redeeming about the game. You may as well squeeze some enjoyment out of it by making all the women topless.

I would not, because the game was not designed with the idea of womens naked. So would be like breaking what the world is supposed to look. I don't care about the artist feelings, or the artist wanting me to not modify the game that way, I could care about doing changes soo extreme that I would be breaking that. The world of elders scrolls as gore, and whores, but things like sex are mostly hidden behind doors. You don't normally see naked people, or topless whores... I would not mind to put a few pretty womens, like Zoey (from L4D), but nothing too obviously whore-ish.

Most body mods will only be noticeable when you've stripped a dead person's clothes off. That's not exactly whore-ish. It makes sense to me that if you take someone's clothes off they'll be naked. Not that it matters really, it's all down to personal preference.

But yes, the Bethesda games have excellent mod support and many high-quality mods. You'd be mad to get their games on a console over the PC for that reason - they turn one game into half a dozen. Modding and mucking about in general is a major advantage of PC games.

Positives? How about laptops? PC-on-the-go friends. Can't really do that with a 360/PS3/Wii. And yes, I know all about Ben Heck. Thank you in advance.

I tried making a modesty mod for Oblivion that caused the characters to still be wearing clothes even after I looted their clothes. (I don't remember if I ever got it working or if I just stopped caring because I stopped looting clothes).

That's another positive of computer games. =) It's nice to be able to exert your will upon a piece of software to make it more quote unquote family friendly. :D
