I had a lot of fun as a Paladin/Warlord tank and a Nature... uh.... I think it was Warden cleric that would occasionally respec to Fire/Warden and also made a reasonable tank.
All classes have a few sets that work well as Tank, DPS and Healer. A rogue-tank with high dodge was a lot of fun.
Yes, I played a lot of tanks in Rift. I couldn't quite work out how to build a mage-tank, but I was certainly working on it.My games-related Twitter: VexingVision

Right, so Rift is going free to play on the 12th of June in the Year of our Lord Two thousand and Thirteen. The game is already free to play, if you like me already own the game. So I guess I was wondering if there was interest in starting a guild? I'm on the Guardian side on the Blightweald, which is a PvE server but I think transfering characters are free.
In summary: Rift is free to play.Maybe it would be fun to play with other people?

There's a promotion with Raptr that can net you a) the base game + 30 days sub, or if you already own the base game: b) Storm Legion Expansion. http://raptr.com/rewards/rift-storm-legion
It's going F2P as mentioned above but having one or both of the above puts in slightly better standing than other F2P players.
You'll have to have the Raptr client running while Rift is running for a total of about 14 hours. You can do this using a Rift Lite account. Howver, you don't actually need to be playing. If you launch the game and then leave it idling at the character select it will still count towards your 14 hours. So basically you can leave it running overnight and rack up the hours that way.
You can ditch Raptr once you've got your code and your Raptr email address isn't linked to your Rift account in anyway. This means you can setup a webmail address just for Raptr if you're fussy about who you register with.Open-faced sandwiches are upon you whether you would risk it or not.
